When "web Analytics" develops into "data intelligence", there is no doubt that data analysts should also have some changes in their work, in the past, primarily web-centric and channel-specific tactics, while in the future they need to be responsible for more strategic, business-oriented and (large) data expertise.
The primary focus of data analysts should not be on lower-level infrastructure and tool development. The following points are the opportunity areas for data analysis:
1. Processing: Master the right tools so that they can be efficiently analyzed under different conditions (different datasets, different business environments, etc.). The most commonly used tool for web analytics experts is undoubtedly a variety of web analytics tools, and most people are not familiar with the use of business intelligence and statistical analysis tools such as tableau, SAS, Cognos, etc. The expertise to have these tools will be of great benefit to the development of data analysts.
2.NLP : Learn the expertise of unstructured data analysis, such as social media, call center logs, and mail that are unstructured data. From the point of view of data processing, our goal in this industry is to identify and master some of the most appropriate analytical methods and tools, whether social media sentiment analysis or some more complex platforms.
3. Visualization: Mastering the presentation skills of dashboards, or broadly speaking, mastering data visualization techniques is an obvious opportunity for data analysts (note: Do not visualize data with the "infographic" commonly used in online marketing infographics).
4. Plan of Action : one of the biggest challenges in the large-scale era will be to meet the needs and supply of technical resources. The current "Web Analytics" foundation is generally not mature enough to support the use of real big data, bridging the skills gap, and more and more "website analysts" will grow into "data analysts".
