Metal texture is a style that should be taken seriously because it is so crowded around our lives that sometimes we forget it. However, when we look at the metal texture of the image, it will still produce such as: Cold feeling, cold, weight, sharp 、...... Wait and feel.
People don't associate metals with small freshness, but the first time they think about it is when they return to the idea of a metal material. Today we learn how to make a metal symbol, its method is very simple, you can also use the same way to make poster fonts and other design.
First, prepare
1. Photoshop
2, PNG format symbol image
Second, the scene
Perhaps just a simple symbol, but in the actual use of the time, still have to debug the environment set, to confirm whether the final effect can be rendered more natural beauty. Here, I've used a symbol image in PNG format that I've done, and you can also use other simple monochrome graphics or fonts.
1, in PS, a new size of w:1280px, h:786px file, create a new layer, layer fill in dark gray (#232323).
2, when the dark gray layer is selected, enter filter > Noise > Add noise to add gray particles to the entire background. Noise Properties Panel, I set the number to 4, Gaussian distribution, and tick "monochrome", you can also set according to your background size.
3, the previous step of the layer to copy a layer, and then select the copy layer, into the Edit > Transform > Horizontal flip.
4. Change the layer blending mode of the duplicate layer to "overlay", and reduce the transparency to 35.
The final two steps are designed to increase the sensitivity of the background particles and to homogenization the entire background. Many people think this step is too superfluous, my advice is that the details determine the success or failure, especially in graphic design, you will find that each pixel is worth considering the necessary.
Third, to add metal effect to the graphic
1, add a PNG picture, placed in the middle of the image, because my png picture is white, here I will add a color overlay, let it become pure black. Metals of course have different shades of gray, but here, I choose to show a little more black metal texture.
2. Apply Layer Style
In the process of Learning PS Foundation, the teacher on the layer style is almost a brief mention of various styles of function, and did not in-depth explanation. It wasn't until we were comfortable with PS that we found the original layer style really can not be too much on the basis of the explanation, because for each style, are in the instance training through their own exploration to the style of the property master a little one or two, so, through this exercise, we also want to learn to deepen the understanding of the following several layer styles.
1) Bevel and Emboss
After you open the layer style, set the various properties in the bevel and Emboss style panel. What you need to emphasize here is that depending on the size of the object you're working with, the number you're going to set will be different, and the only thing we can do is to try each number over and over again to find the best results. The values I set here are as follows:
The attributes here are divided into "structure" and "shadow", and the metal texture is mostly based on this layer style, so in this step, we will transform the object into a metal feeling. In the future, the design of a considerable part of the metal texture to build, we also need to adopt this layer style.
At the same time, in the bevel and emboss under the check "contour", the contour defaults are adjusted as follows:
After my repeated attempts and efforts, I have been debugging the following effect:
2 at this point, and then add layer style for detail, here I use "stroke" and "inner Shadow", their properties are set as follows:
At this point, my image effect is:
3 Finally, when we do any realistic case, do not forget to add shadows to the object.
The point to note here is that in PS, if you select Use Global light when you set the angle of any style, the angle of all the styles in the layer will be consistent. This is to allow you to treat the light and shade processing of an auxiliary function. Here I use the global light to keep the whole picture consistent.
After the layer style adjustment, the effect I have made is this:
Four, landscaping details
1, add the layers we just edited to a group, add a gradient overlay blending option for this group.
The properties of the blending options are set as follows:
This helps us to focus the bright part on the pattern.
2, of course, the metal is shiny, then in order to highlight our metal luster, I first copy all the layers and merged into a layer.
Enter "Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur", the Gaussian fuzzy numerical setting is determined according to the actual situation, the effect is as follows:
Adjusts the layer blending mode of the blurred layer to "filter", and the opacity adjusts to 60.
Then, while holding down the ALT key and clicking on the icon to add a layer mask underneath the layers panel, use the brush to apply a white color to the part of the pattern on the mask, and the white Information records a complete hide of the layer on the mask. The advantage of adding a mask is that you can highlight only the highlighted parts of the metal in the pattern, while the rest of the shadow continues to remain in depth.
3, finally, I further processing the image, such as the addition of some flash, you can also open the pattern layer just to make further changes to the layer style. The effect of the completion is as follows:
Five, PostScript:
The metal texture of the building should not be limited to the above methods, metal texture is also very different, but through training, we will gradually skilled to identify what kind of texture should be used to deal with the way.
