First, the problem description
ubuntu14.04 was recently installed and a kernel was compiled in ubuntu14.04. In most cases, the "Gzip:stdout:No space left on device" issue will appear with the sudo apt-get install application. The phenomenon is similar to [1].
My Ubuntu partition size is/around 60G, swap 4G around,/boot 400M or so. The HDD is equipped with Win7 and Ubuntu dual system.
Second, problem solving
From the point of view of the problem, is that I give/boot division of the space is too small, method one is to re-add space to the boot partition. The method used is to add a partition ([2]) to/boot based on the GParted software. Method Two can try to mount the/boot partition again, see [5].
Step one: Write Ubuntu 14.04 desktop[4] file with uui[3] to the USB flash drive.
Step two: USB stick boot into Ubuntu system, the system comes with GParted, open the software.
Step three: Re-gparted/swap/boot Three partitions in the middle of the partition size, at this time I adjust the partitions to/around 57G, swap 4G around,/boot 3G or so. (Note: When repartitioning, the GParted software hint may need to rewrite grub because it needs to move the/boot partition, I will restart the system directly after the partition, and find that it can enter Ubuntu normally, if you have problems with GRUB, see Supplemental alternative pages)
Step four: Reboot into Ubuntu
