Recently, I read founders at work and read about Paul Graham's experience in creating viaweb (which became Yahoo store after Yahoo was acquired. He talked about
"Another advantage of telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you 've got said. you don't have to keep any state in your head. it's a purely functional business strategy. (hackers will get what I mean .)"
To tell the truth, you don't have to remember what you said, so you don't have to save a state in your brain. This State makes it possible to continue the lie next time. Then, his analogy is actually functional programming, with no variables or States to remember, making life easier and making fewer mistakes. Programmers who have used functional programming should understand this analogy, haha.
