Failure phenomenon:
How does the VNXE system without Internet connection obtain and activate licenses?
Solution:
If your vnxe system doesn't have an Internet connection, you can get system license files from a computer that has an Internet connection and upload them to the VNXE system.
To obtain and activate the VNXE system license:
The task you need to complete is to get the Vnxe Product ID and you can vnxe the system's 14-bit product ID/SN on the label on the back.
1. From an Internet-connected computer, use a Web browser to open the EMC Online Support website (emc.com/vnxesupport). Make sure that you have deactivated all possible pop-up blocker because they may prevent web pages from popping up.
2. Click on "Getting Started".
3. On the "Getting Started" page, click on "Vnxe Registration and Licensing".
4. On the "Register a Product" page, enter the product ID and click "Continue".
5. On the EMC Licensing activation page, click Download file to download serial number files to local.
A message containing a license is also sent to the e-mail address that is bound to your EMC online support. If you want to send the license file to another email account, specify the email address you want to send and click the [>>] button.
When you receive a message containing a license file, save the file to your local system.
Do not modify the name of the license file.
6. Transfer the license file to a computer connected to the VNXE system, or connect the computer that you obtained the license file to the same subnet as your vnxe system.
7. Use a Web browser to vnxe system management IP address landing unisphere.
8. In Unisphere, click Settings > More configuration > Manage Licenses.
9. On the Manage Licenses page, click Upload and Install License File.
10. Read the End User License Agreement, click Accept License agreement and click OK. The Upload dialog box appears.
11. Locate the license file on your local computer, select the file, and then click Open.
The license file is installed on the VNXE system.
The license (LIC) file is based on your vnxe serial number, and you can enable all features at the time of purchase. This may be wrapped replication Manager (RM).
When you install RM Manager, enter this same license file when prompted.
