Some users found that in the application login account and the use of IE10 browser (desktop and Metro/modern version), when the password, will be in the password input box to the right side of a small eye the same "visual" button, after the click can be temporarily clear password display. It's a bit odd that this setting is really practical for complex or unfamiliar passwords. But when the password is very simple and do not need any hint, but also a number of security risks, whether it can turn off this function? After a search, the small series finally found in Group Policy this option-and still two!
On the Start menu, open Run, and enter "Gpedit.msc" to open the local Group Policy Editor. As shown in figure:
In the Group Policy Editor, there are two settings for password display, respectively, for the global and IE10 browsers.
You can set the global Password Display button by opening local computer policy, finding Administrative Templates in User Configuration, finding Windows components, and finally selecting the credential user interface. As shown in figure:
Double-click the "Do not display password display button", set to "Enable" in the pop-up dialog box to turn off the password display globally.
The Visual Password button will no longer appear in all Windows components including IE.
In addition, there is a way to turn off the Display password button, but the method only takes effect on IE, in User Configuration in Local Computer policy, select Administrative Templates, select Windows Components, then select Internet Explorer, and then select Security features. As shown in figure
Double-click the "Do not show password display button", set to "Enable" in the pop-up dialog box to turn off IE's password display only.
At this point, the visual buttons in IE are no longer displayed, but they do not affect the buttons of other components.
Password input box in the component:
It is noteworthy that in the IE Password display button, said that the "do not show" on the global will no longer overwrite this policy setting. In other words, when the global Password display button is enabled, the corresponding settings for IE will no longer take effect.
