In general, Firefox does not occupy the amount of memory that makes you feel exaggerated, but it will also depend on the number of other resources, such as plug-ins, themes, and additional software.

Therefore, if there is a way to reduce the amount of memory as much as possible, it is quite worth recommending. Here are some simple steps that you can use to conserve your computer's memory.

Follow these steps to check to see what causes an abnormal memory footprint:

First, check your additional software and topics

If you've installed a lot of additional software and themes for your Firefox, then organize them to remove additional software and topics that you don't use or don't need. You can open Firefox in safe mode to check, the following is the specific steps:

You can make a selection of the options shown here, and after that, if you click "Save changes and start again," Firefox will apply the changes and start in normal mode. If you choose "continue to use Safe mode", then any settings will not be applied. If you choose Exit, you will exit the browser without saving any settings.

Ii. Erase Download History

Keeping the download history will consume a lot of memory resources, and it will make your Firefox slow in use, or even appear to be suspended.

1, delete the "DOWNLOADS.RDF" file to clear the download history.

2, you need to make some changes to the browser settings. Please open the Firefox browser.

3, in the menu bar, click the "Tools" > "Options."

Third, check the plugin

Firefox plug-ins consume memory when they are in use. Note that upgrading your plugin to the latest version is an important habit you should develop. It is also absolutely sensible to uninstall the plug-in completely without using it.

Four, periodically restart Firefox

When you use Firefox for a long time, the amount of memory it consumes will increase over time.

1, you can consider periodically restart Firefox to keep it in a fixed memory footprint.

2, download and install the Session Manager extension, it can save you text data, history and cookies. It allows you to keep the pages you've opened before Firefox closes.

V. Set up fast caching for Firefox

By default, Firefox uses system memory only and does not use fast caching, and if you set up fast caching for it, you can reduce the burden of memory. The following steps are specific:

1, open the Firefox browser.

2, enter "About:config" in the Address bar.

8, if your memory size is 256MB, then enter "4096", and if your memory size is 512MB, then enter "8192".

9, Note: If your memory is still 128MB or even lower, then recommend the purchase of memory upgrades, memory is not very expensive now.

Tip: If you want to restore the default settings, you can change the value of "browser.cache.memory.capacity" to "-1".
