How to set the limit on the number of tplink connections

The following figure shows the number of connection entries. The test result is obtained on the 2 m adsl line:

(1) the number of connections can reach about 80. This number of connections is maintained for a short period of time and can be aged out within one minute. Therefore, you do not have to worry that this will affect the network speed. So why are there so many connections? This is mainly because portal websites such as sina have multiple servers and there are many images and animations on webpages, when browsing a web page, you need to download these elements to a temporary folder on the local computer, which will generate so many connections in an instant. As shown in Figure 1:

(2) When Thunder is enabled, the number of connections is not large. When popular movies and games are downloaded, the number of connections is stable at around 80. These 80 connections will always exist, the download is complete. This value is tested on the 2 m adsl line. As shown in Figure 2:

(3) enabling BT (using Bitcomet) download will occupy a large number of connections. During the download initialization phase, the number of connections may reach more than 2000. After the download is stable, the number of connections will decrease. These entries also exist until the download is complete. As shown in figure 3, the number of connections initiated when the speed is reached. It is noted that the connection count and speed are not necessarily related. The speed is high, and the number of connections is not necessarily high. In turn, the speed is not necessarily high because there are many connections. However, if the number of connections is large, the speed will increase.

The principles of other P2P software are similar.

The following are a few simple examples to illustrate what is the number of connections. What are the benefits of setting this function on a vro? There are two purposes:

1. It can prevent P2P software from occupying excessive connection resources and leading to slow network speeds and disconnection issues, meanwhile, P2P software can also indirectly avoid occupying too much bandwidth (if you want to effectively allocate intranet bandwidth, use the ip qos function );

2. Avoid the disconnection caused by attacks or even virus-initiated connection occupying vro resources or bandwidth.

Therefore, in a complex network environment, we recommend that you enable the number of connections limit, and set the maximum number of connections to 200 or 300. How to set it? Log on to the management interface of our vro. On the left-side menu, you can view the "connections limit" to set and view the connections.

 

In "connection count limit", click "add new entry" to limit the number of connections to the computer.

 

Enter an IP address in the "lan ip address" field, which can be an IP address segment or an IP address, and then enter the maximum number of connections to save the IP address.

After the entry is successfully added, you can see that the maximum number of connections to the computer 192.168.1.100 has been limited to 200, and the entry is "enabled. If you want to edit or delete the entry, click the corresponding button to perform the corresponding operation.
