This article describes in detail the transmission speed problems in LAN faults, provides possible analysis of some faults, and provides troubleshooting methods, the following article gives you a detailed answer.
A just-built small LAN, a server, and more than a dozen workstations, using a switch as the access device, the connection line is 6 types of lines. The main failure is that the transmission speed of computers in the network is slow. It takes 30 minutes for any workstation to copy a MB file on the server. Even two adjacent workstations are slow.
Analyze LAN faults and list the following possibilities:
1. hacker attacks or worms
2. line faults
3. The vswitch is overloaded.
4. network adapter faults
5. connectivity problems
Lan troubleshooting methods:
1. Select any number of workstations and check their network configurations. The server can be pinged. The response time is less than 1 ms, which is within the normal range. That is, the connectivity is normal. WINDUMP is installed on one of the computers to obtain data packets. No problem is found, so hackers or worms are excluded.
2. When troubleshooting line faults, we know that all computers have slow transmission speeds. Therefore, the maximum possible reason is the wiring pass rate of the six types of lines. It is very easy to know whether there are 6 types of lines. You only need to replace 6 types of lines with a line of 5. If the computer transmission speed in the network is faster, it indicates that there are problems with the 6 types of lines; however, the transmission speed of computers in the network is still slow, indicating that there are problems with the six types of lines, which is unlikely to happen.
3. Check whether the switch is overloaded. After restarting the switch, check whether the transmission speed of the computer in the network is faster. However, it is useless here, so the possibility of the switch being overloaded is ruled out.
4. Check the NIC status of several workstations and find that the NICS of these computers are in the half-duplex status. And deleted some unused network protocols. The fault still exists.
5. finally, after logging on to the vswitch through Web management, you can check that the error status of each port is correct. However, you may find that each port of the vswitch is set to full-duplex; we recall that the network cards of the workstation are in the half-duplex State. If the port mode does not match, the network speed slows down. Therefore, after the switch port is changed to the adaptive state, the fault is solved.
