How do I turn off the Event Viewer "Events.asp" link? We can generally implement this in Group Policy, as shown in the figure, to open the policy options in Group Policy for this policy, and to specify whether events within the Event Viewer application display a "events.asp" hyperlink.
Event Viewer typically points all HTTP URLs to hot links that activate an Internet browser when clicked. Additionally, if the event is generated by the Microsoft component, the end of the description text will display "more information." This text contains a link (URL) that sends information about the event to Microsoft when clicked, and allows the user to learn more about the cause of the event.
If you enable this setting, the event description URL link will not be activated and the text "more information" will not be displayed at the end of the description.
If you disable this setting or do not configure it, users will prompt the user when they click the hyperlink, and then send information about the event over the Internet to Microsoft. See "Events.asp URL", "Events.asp program", and "events.asp program command-line Arguments" in the Administrative Templates/windows component/Event Viewer.
