How to upgrade DB2V8 to DB2V95 on the AIX platform

It is not limited to the AIX environment. Other platforms (such as Unix, Linux, and Windows) can follow the same steps to perform the same upgrade operation.

After completing the instance upgrade steps:

◆ Upgrade database products to the latest version of DB2V95.

◆ Upgrade the DB2 environment components so that these components can work properly in the latest DB2 version.

Prerequisites:

The instance of DB2V8 works normally.

Main steps:

The following section assumes that the current DB2V8 instance is fully available and that DB2V8 runs normally on the AIX pSeries LPAR platform ..

1) to upgrade the current DB2V8, you must first install a copy of DB2V95)And then upgrade the DB2 instance (instances) and database so that the DB2 instance and database can run correctly on the copy of DB2V95. When you install DB2V95 copy on an AIX pSeries LPAR, do not create a database instance.

2) DB2 9.5 provides support for 32-bit operating systems (Linux on x86 and Windows) and 64-bit operating systems (UNIX, Linux, and Windows ).. Therefore, in the AIX 64-bit pSeries LPAR environment, you must first upgrade the 32-bit DB2V8 instance to 64-bit.

Upgrade command:

Run in the main directory of DB2V8

$ DB2V8_DIR/instance/db2iupdt command

Switch to the root user and run the following command.

./db2iupdt instance_name

3) When I is upgraded to a DB2 instance, the command db2imigr is called., This command can complete the following functions:

A. in the installed DB2V95 Copy, upgrade the current instance to the latest DB2V95.

B. Update the instance summary registration variable, but the custom global summary registration variable will not be upgraded.

C. Upgrade the Database Manager configuration file.

D. Set the JDK path and Database Manager parameters.

E. Upgrade the db2 audit configuration file.

Usage example:

I) Stop the DB2V8 instance

db2stop force db2 terminate

Ii) switch to the root user and execute:

$DB2V9_DIR/instance bash-2.05# ./db2imigr db2instance

4) after the installation of DB2V95 is complete, run the dasmigr command to manually upgrade the DAS.

Usage:

Switch to the root user and execute the following command,

$DB2V9_DIR/instance/ bash-2.05# ./dasmigr

Since only one DAS can be run on the DB2 server, if you do not want to upgrade the DAS, you can delete the current DAS of DB2V8 and create a new DAS Based on DB2V95.

5) Upgrade the database.

After you complete the preceding steps to upgrade the DB2 instance (nstance), you need to upgrade the database of the instance. If there are multiple instances, You need to upgrade all databases for each instance. To upgrade the DATABASE, run the migrate database command.

Switch to a DB2 instance user or a user with SYSADM Permissions

Usage:

db2MIGRATEDABASEdatabase-aliasUSERusernameUSINGpassword

Parameter description: database-alias is the name or alias of the database to be upgraded.

6) After the upgrade, connect to the database to verify whether the Database Upgrade is successful.

Then check the DB2 user (assuming DB2 user db2inst1)/home/db2inst1/sqllib/db2profile file to verify that the DB2DIR value should be changed from the DB2V8 installation path to the current DB2V95 installation path.
