Improvement of IPv6 standards in terms of service and mobile

Before talking about IPv4 network services, the service quality is not satisfactory. Therefore, the service quality has been further improved based on the current IPv6 protocol standards to meet the needs to the maximum extent. In addition, IPv6 protocol standards for mobile communication have also developed considerably. Let's take a look at the specific situation.

Service quality assurance

At the beginning of IPv4-based Internet design, there was only one simple quality of service, that is, using "Best effort" Best effort) transmission. In principle, QoS is not guaranteed. QoS is not required for text transmission and static image transmission. As multimedia services on IP networks increase, such as real-time applications such as IP phones, VoD, and video conferencing, there are strict requirements on transmission latency and latency jitter.

The standard IPv6 data packet format includes an 8-bit business Flow Class) and a new 20-bit Flow Label ). RFC1883 defines four priority fields, which can distinguish 16 different priorities. Then, in RFC2460, change to the 8-bit Category field.

The value and how to use it have not yet been defined. The purpose is to allow the source node that sends the business flow and the router that forwards the business flow to add tags on the data packets and perform different processing except the default processing. Generally, data packets can be specially processed based on overhead, bandwidth, latency, or other features on the selected link.

A stream is related to a series of information packages in a certain way, and the IP layer must treat them in a relevant way.

Parameters that determine that the information package belongs to the same stream include:

◆ Source Address

◆ Destination Address

◆ Service Quality

◆ Identity authentication and security

The introduction of the standard streaming concept of IPv6 is still based on the connectionless protocol. A stream can contain several TCP connections, the destination address of a stream can be a single node or a group of nodes. When an IPv6 standard intermediate node receives an information packet, it verifies its stream tag to determine which stream it belongs to and then knows the QoS requirements of the information packet, for fast forwarding.

Better support for Mobile Communication

In the future, the combination of mobile communication and the Internet will be one of the major trends of network development. Mobile Internet will become part of our daily life and change all aspects of our life.

Mobile Internet is more than just a mobile access to the Internet. It also provides a series of value-added services with mobility as the core: querying localized design information, remote control tools, unlimited interactive games, and shopping and payment.

The design of mobile IPv6 draws on the Design Experience of mobile IPv4 and utilizes many new features of IPv6, So it provides more and better features than mobile IPv4. Mobile IPv6 becomes an integral part of IPv6 protocol standards. For more details, see Mobile IP technology topics.
