has been in the Win7 system on the VirtualBox on the installation of CentOS Learning Linux system, but the nature can not keep up, open the virtual machine a bit card, and has not how to seriously learn Linux, now at home in winter vacation decided to seriously learn Linux, install dual system.

Here is my installation record:

  1. In the NetEase open source Mirror station downloaded the centos6.7 image, the address http://mirrors.163.com/centos/6.7/isos/x86_64/downloaded the centos-6.7-x86_64- Bin-dvd1.iso and Centos-6.7-x86_64-bin-dvd2.iso One is the system installation image, and one is the installation package.

  2. Prepare the free disk partition, you can use Diskgenius to partition, to separate an idle partition, I separated the size of the free partition is 80G

  3. Prepare the Ext3 file system partition to hold the image of the installation system because the Linux system recognizes the FAT32 file system under Windows and does not recognize the NTFS file system under Windows, so prepare the Ext3 file system, use the software pqmagic, Continue to create partitions on the free partition, select the new partition of the file system for Linux ext3, the size of the partition is not very large, I divided the 10G.

The specific operation of the software is not detailed here.

  4. Loading the ext3 partition into the Wind7 system requires the EXT3 partition to be loaded with EXT2FSD. After opening the EXT2FSD software, in the 3rd step created in the EXT3 partition right-click on the profile system, this time the key point is that the EXT2FSD driver is now displayed should be non-enabled, click the Enable button, will show driver could not be started, The main reason is that the Win7 64-bit system for system security, limit all drivers must have digital signature authentication, EXT2FSD driver can not start now, need to uninstall the EXT2FSD software, and then restart the system by pressing the F8 key, select the Disable Driver Signing force option to enter the system, and then install the software, Start the EXT2FSD driver. Proceed to the previous step to select the support EXT3 write operation, change and exit.

  5. The ISO image file is stored in the ext3 partition, and the images and Isolinux folders in the DVD1 are extracted and placed in the ext3 partition.

  6. Install Wingrub by partion list to view the number of the ext3 partition just now, mine is hd0,4

  7. Install EASYBCD, add startup items, add new entries, select Neogrub installation configuration

    Kernel (hd0,4)/isolinux/vmlinuz

    INITRD (hd0,4)/isolinux/initrd.img

  8. Restart the system, start the formal installation of CentOS, select the Neogrub boot loader, and select CentOS to enter the installation, the intermediate process is no longer detailed, select the key part of the narrative:

Partition section, the swap partition is created to improve server performance, but unlike the virtual partition of Windows, the swap partition in Linux is used only when the physical partition is exhausted, the size of the partition is selected, The rule is: physical memory is less than 2G when the physical memory of twice times the size of physical memory is greater than 2G and physical memory is approximately the same size, but the partition size can not be less than 512MB. The root partition size is divided by 60G.

I chose the root partition when I chose the location of boot loader installation, and I did not get the boot partition

  9. Restart the computer, enter the Win7 system, update the Negogrub configuration in EASYBCD to add the Grub command to the Menulist

    Title CentOS

    Root (hd0,6)

    Kernel/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.xxxx ro root=uuid=xxxxxxx

    Initrd/boot/initrd.img-2.6.xxxxxx

This takes the time to re-enable Neogrub boot loading of the CentOS system while learning some grub commands.

When choosing the boot loader when the MBR is selected when the worry will cause Win7 can not start, in fact, CentOS 6.7 is only modified MBR and will not overwrite win7 boot boot, but Win7 will overwrite the MBR cause the CentOS boot is overwritten, This can be done by using Neogrub to boot the CentOS in the 8th step, which happens when the Win7 system is re-installed, causing CentOS to fail to start.

I learned that when centos7 will overwrite Win7 boot in MBR, this situation can be modified in CentOS to add win7 boot entries to the configuration.
