Pre-installation instructions for arcsde10.1

Arcsde10.1 only 64-bit operating systems, database server operating systems, and related databases must be 64-bit

Before installation, we need to check the system requirements:

Installation Steps

Open the installation page of arcsde10.1

We can note that, unlike the previous installation, we can install the ArcSDE command line package separately. In fact, the installation method of arcsde10.1 is completely different from that of arcsde10, in earlier versions, the ArcSDE media is installed first. After the software is installed, the post installation Installation Wizard is automatically displayed. Then, the system creates the ArcSDE library step by step.

However, you can install arcsde10.1 without installing the ArcSDE media. You need to create the ArcSDE library by directly connecting to the database with the help of arcgis?top10.1. This means that if you prefer to use the previous command line to manage ArcSDE, you can install the ArcSDE command package separately.

In the software installation process of arcsde10.1, the only difference is the selection of the application and command package. You do not need to select the installation package.

After the installation is complete, we can find an arcgis1_top10.1 machine. Remember to install the corresponding database client. Note that if you are an oracle user, although our server side is 64bit, we still need to install the 32bit database client for the database client, because our ArcGIS program is still 32bit.

Before installation, make sure that our client can connect to the local database or remote server database.

First open arcgis1_top10.1, and then open the arctoolbox tool. Choose data management tools-geographic database management-create an enterprise-level geographic database.

Data management tools-Geodatabase administation-Create enterprise Geodatabase data management tools-geographic database management-create an enterprise-level geographic database

The following figure shows the interface for creating an enterprise-level geographic database GP:

Currently, the database platform only supports three types of databases: Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. That is to say, this method of using ArcGIS Desktop direct connection to create a database supports three commonly used databases, for IBM DB2, Informix, and other databases, the installation method still follows the traditional method (I have not tested it ).

If the database client is not installed, the system prompts this result.

The interface information shows that the information to be added includes the database type, Instance name, database administrator user, and password, geodatabase user name, password, for different databases (Database Name, tablespace, etc.), related authorization files, etc. In fact, if you are familiar with the original method of step-by-step post, you should know, these are the information we entered step by step. The advantage of doing so is to simplify the way users create databases.

Through ESRI lectures and training, our engineers will also send you the recommended ArcSDE direct connection method. The default connection of arcgis10.1 is direct connection, in addition, whether you install or upgrade Geodatabase in the future, you need to use ArcGIS Desktop direct connection to perform operations. In this way, the service connection will be gradually reduced. Based on this topic, if the selected database operating system is not windows, such as Linux, Aix, and Solaris, these operating systems are often not familiar to users, however, the installation of arcsde10.1 is very simple. We only need one arcgis10.1 desktop that can connect to the remote server. We create the ArcSDE library in the Windows operating system, unless you have to use a service connection, you do not have to perform any operations in a non-Windows operating system.

Installation in Linux

The installation of ArcSDE in a Linux environment is basically similar to that in windows. It is directly connected to post, and we have no wonder what operating system the Oracle machine is, as long as ArcGIS Desktop can be connected successfully, we only need to configure the relevant netservicename, because this parameter can obtain the IP address of the remote server and the Instance name of the remote ORACLE, therefore, if you do not need to connect to the service during Linux installation, there is no difficulty. After installation, we can see the following information:

Executing: createpolicisegeodatabase Oracle orcl_203 # database_auth sys ***** sde_schema SDE ***** sde c: \ Users \ Administrator \ Desktop \ authorizationserver. ecpstart time: Mon Jun 18 14:59:13 2012 user has privileges required to create database objects. tablespace created. geodatabase admin user created. validated authorization file. user has required privileges for Geodatabase setup. This warning means that if you use SQL to operate st_geometry, you need to install the related packages separately and call st_shapelib.

However, the default tablespace is installed in $ ORACLE_HOME/DBS.

If you want to install it in a specified path, especially ASM, and the shared disk has a fixed path, you can create a tablespace of Sde without affecting the post process.

Attaching the installation process of ArcSDE in Linux is actually very simple.
