1) to ATI's official website (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx) Download the corresponding driver, be sure to pay attention to the difference between Radeon series and Mobility Radeon series. The notebook is of course mobility Radeon.
2) Back up the original configuration file.
Cp/etc/x11/xorg.conf/etc/x11/xorg.conf.bk
3) The driver must be installed in command-line mode.
Modify the/etc/inittab file, change the init 5 to init 3, and then restart the system, or log in to the system as root and enter the command: Init 3, directly switch straight command line.
4) Compile driver.
CD to the video driver directory. Modify permissions for Ati-xxxxxx.run ===> chmod 777 Ati-xxxxxx.run
Unzip the driver file into the ATI directory--"Sh ati-xxxxxxxxxx.run--extract ATI
Compile the Driver = = = "CD ATI
===>sh/packages/redhat/ati-packager.sh--buildpkg RHEL5
A RPM package is generated.
Here to illustrate: Compile driver to see their own system, command "sh/packages/redhat/ati-packager.sh--buildpkg RHEL5", RedHat and RHEL5 in accordance with their own system settings. I am CentOS, is the Redhat version, so this is the parameter. This step should be studied carefully.
5) Uninstall the old driver, this step I did not do, I would like to try not to uninstall can not be installed smoothly,
6) Install the fourth step to compile the rpm package, = = = "Rpm-ivh fglrxxxxxxxx.rpm
7) Aticonfig--initial--input=/etc/x11/xorg.conf This step seems not to be necessary.
8) restart, or = = = "Init 5
9) Test, = = = "Fglrxinfo
=====>glxgears
