First, installation environment

1. The basic information for my virtual machine is as follows:


Second, install Linux

1. Prepare the CD image file for Linux, I use CentOS 6.4, and so on to build a virtual machine we will use it to install!


2. Start the VMware Workstation, click Create a new virtual machine in the Home screen or click File on the menu bar and select New Virtual machine ... Go to the Virtual Machine Creation Wizard!


3. Choose Custom (Advanced) for user-defined installation, the first option is a typical installation, the steps are relatively simple, but cannot be customized. Select OK and then click next!


4. Select the version number of the VMware Workstation, click Next, I am using VMware Workstation 8, so I chose the first one!


5. Select the installation source for the operating system, the first option is to install from the CD drive (G:), The second option means installing with a disc image file (. iso), and the third option is to create an empty virtual machine and install the operating system at a later time, since the Linux CD image file has been prepared, so you should choose the second one, but I'm used to creating an empty virtual machine, and then installing the system with the mirror So I chose the third one, and then I clicked next!.


6. Select the operating system and version that you want to install, because the system image I prepared is 32-bit, so select CentOS in Linux and click next!


7. Give the virtual machine a name, the default name is the system version name of the previous step selection, here I do not change, called CentOS, the name of the best with your installed system has links, so convenient later management, click Browse ... You can change the storage path of the virtual machine and click next! after setting.


8. Select the number of processors and the number of cores, leave the default setting of 1, and then click next!


9. Set the virtual machine memory size, according to the actual situation of their own computer, the general 1G to 2G or so can be, sliding the left side of the cursor or manually input on the right, pay attention to units! I set up 3GB,1G=1024MB here, so enter 3072, and then click next!


10. Select the connection type of the network, it is recommended to choose the first bridge, the specific characteristics of each type can be Baidu search, select after click next!


11. Select the I/O controller type, leave the default settings, click next!


12. Select the disk, the first option is to create a new vdisk, the second option is to use an existing virtual disk, the third option is to use a physical disk, select the first create a new virtual disk, and then click next!


13. Select the disk type, leave the default settings, and click next!


14. Set the disk size, the default is 20GB, can be adjusted according to individual circumstances, I set the 35GB here, pay attention to units! Allocate All disk space now means allocating these disk spaces to the virtual machine immediately, and the store virtual disk as a single file means that the vdisk is stored with one of the files, Split virtual disks into multi ple files means that the virtual disk is stored with multiple files, because my disk space is limited, there is no tick allocation immediately, select multiple file storage facilitates the transplant, according to the individual situation selected after Click next!


15. Keep the default, click next!


16. Click Finish to complete the creation!


17. After the virtual machine is created, we install the Linux operating system, select the virtual machine CentOS that you just created in the My Computer drop-down list, and then click cd/DVD (IDE) Auto detect to mount the disc image!


18. Select Use ISO image file (using ISO image files), click Browse ... Locate the. iso file that you prepared before, and then click ok!


19. Click Power on this virtual machine (turn on the VM power)!


20. Go to the handsome start screen!


21. Read the image successfully! Welcome to CentOS 6.4! Select Install or upgrade an existing system, and then press ENTER!


22. Prompt for media test, select Skip (Skip), and press ENTER!


23. Click next!


24. Select Chinese (English) and click next! Of course, you can also install the Chinese version!


25. Select U.s.english, click next!


26. Select Basic Storage Devices (Base storage device) and click next!


27. Keep the default option, click Yes,discard any data!


28. Set the host name, here I keep the default, and then click next!


29. Select Shanghai in the map, click the checkmark before the system clock uses UTC, and then tap next!


30. Set the root password and click next!


31. Select Create custom Layout (creating a customized partition) and click next!


32. Select free from the drop-down list and click create!


33. Select Standard Partition in the pop-up window and click create!


34. In the new pop-up window, set mount point to/boot,size (MB) to 200, others remain default, and then click ok!


35. Repeat steps 32 and 33, do not set mount point in the new pop-up window, set the file System type to Swap,size (MB) to 6144 (6GB)
, swap is generally twice times the size of memory, according to personal circumstances to set, because my previous virtual machine memory is 3GB, so swap size is set to 6GB, and then click ok!


36. Also perform the steps 32 and 33 again, set mount point in the New popup window to/, select Fill to maximun allowable size in additional size option, others remain default, and then click ok!


37. After the partition is complete, click next!


38. Click Format for formatting!


39. Click write changes to disk!


40. Keep the default, click next!


41. Select Customize Now (Custom), others remain default, then click next!


42. Depending on your needs, select the software you want to install, then click next!


43. Install, wait!!!


44.congratulations! Installation success, a toast to celebrate!!! Don't worry, not yet, click Rboot Restart!


45. After reboot, go to Configuration Wizard, welcome! Click forward!


46. Select Yes,i agree to the License agreement! Then click forward!


47. Create a user, enter a user name and password, and then click forward!


48. Because I set the password does not conform to the naming rules, so I am prompted that the password is a weak password, too simple, whether still use it, because only to do the exercise, so I do not set the complex password, click Yes, and then click forward!


49. Keep the default, click forward!


50.Kdump is a tool used to dump memory run parameters in the event of a system crash, deadlock, or crash, so that you can analyze the cause of the crash, and if you don't want to use it, click the Tick, and then tap finish!


51. As I checked the Enable Kdump, the system requires a reboot, click Yes, if not checked, there will be no such prompt!


52. Re-prompt to restart now, click ok!


53. Restart the login interface, we use the root user login, click other...!


54. Enter the user name and click Log in!


55. Enter the password and click Log in!


56. Prompt root user's security hidden trouble, click Close can be closed, if you don't want to prompt next time tick on do not show me this again!


57. Login Successful! Click on the top right corner of the two small computer with a red fork icon, select the system eth0, then you can surf the internet!


58. In the upper right corner of the Red Fork disappears, click the Firefox browser icon, enter the URL, return! Page loaded successfully! Indicates that the network is connected!
