Introduction to PowerPath Discovery Dead path Time processing method

Source: Internet
Author: User

Run the following command under the PowerPath directory:

1. The following command checks the new path and, if dead paths is displayed, deletes the existing dead path:

POWERMT Check

2. The following commands are used to scan disk devices and PowerPath is automatically configured;

POWERMT Config

3, use the following command to view the path state, if all the paths appear to be valid and active (no HBA activation issues), proceed to the next step:

POWERMT Display Dev=all

In the case of Symmetrix, the output of the command appears as follows:

Pseudo Name=hdiskpower15

Symmetrix id=00028550xxxx

Logical Device Id=00f4

state=alive; policy=symmopt; priority=0; Queued-ios=0

==============================================================================

------Host------Stor--I/O Path--Stats-

### HW Path I/O Paths interf. Mode State Q-ios Errors

==============================================================================

2 Fscsi2 hdisk18 FA 14aA Active Alive 0 2

1 fscsi1 hdisk39 FA 5bA Active Alive 0 2

4, save the correct PowerPath changes:

POWERMT Save

If the above steps still do not resolve the dead paths issue, keep a backup of the current disk device configuration, deactivate the device, and then follow these steps:

For Linux, HP-UX, AIX operating systems:

1. # mv/etc/powermt.custom*, to the desired directory/path, as a backup;

For Windows systems:

> C:windowssystem32driversetcpowermt.custom

2. Reboot.

For the Solaris operating system:

1. # mv/etc/powermt.custom* and/kernel/drv/emcp.conf, to the desired directory/path, as a backup.

First try to modify only Powermt.custom, while emcp.conf unchanged;

Note: PowerPath version 4.5.0 has a known problem: The file emcp.conf was not created when the reboot occurred. For this issue, use the command: touch/kernel/drv/emcp.conf, the permission should be: Rw-r--r-root.

2. Reboot.

At this point, if the PowerPath disk device does not match the output of the previous POWERMT display Dev=all command, rename the disk device using the EMCPADM command. For information about how to rename a disk device with the Emcpadm command, see emc166911.
