Friends with old machines and laptops, I'm afraid, can hardly tolerate the slow-moving system startup process. Even after a variety of optimization cheats, using all the optimization software, but Windows XP or leisurely boot, slow shutdown, let people frustrated unceasingly. In fact, Windows XP has long been ready for you a quick-switch shortcut, it is standby and hibernation.
First, the shutdown to accelerate a key standby
Open Control Panel → Power Options, select the Advanced tab, and then set the drop down menu when you press the computer power button to check Hibernate or standby. Once you have applied the settings, you can use one key to standby. For example, before leaving work, is doing a work to continue tomorrow, then just click the power button on the chassis, you can leave after work. And the next day, press the Power-on key can quickly enter the system, continue yesterday unfinished work.
When resuming from standby, someone may be peeping into the computer's data. In this case, on the Advanced tab, check the "Require password to be entered when the computer resumes from standby" entry to add a security guard to standby.
Second, to create "sleep" hibernation key
First, in the Hibernate tab of the Power Options dialog box, select the Enable Hibernate feature. Then right-click on the desktop, select "New" → "shortcut" in the pop-up menu, and enter the "rundll32.exepowrprof.dll,setsuspendstate" command in the "Create Shortcut" dialog box. Click Next to enter Hibernate in the Select Program Title dialog box. After finish, right-click the Hibernate shortcut on your desktop, open the dialog box, select the Shortcuts tab, and press your favorite shortcuts in the shortcut key, such as "F8." Set well, just press the "F8" key to achieve a key to sleep.
Third, the reasonable set up standby power
Most of the time, just leave the computer temporarily, then do not need to close most of the hardware device power, such as USB interface, network card, mouse and other devices, so that the speed of recovery can be improved.
Take the NIC as an example, open the Device Manager, right-click the network adapter item, select Properties from the pop-up menu, and open the Properties Settings dialog box. Select the Power Management tab, where you can remove the option to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power, and click Apply. Using the same method, disable the power off feature of devices such as USB and mouse.
Four, standby state can also turn off the power
The normal standby method is not able to turn off the power, because the data is stored in memory, once shut down, will cause data loss. To shut down, you only use hibernation, but the time for hibernation to start is still longer. If you take advantage of the STR technology on the motherboard power supply, you can turn off the power on standby and restore the computer to work for only a few seconds.
Most motherboards support STR technology. Take the Soyo Sy-i5prle motherboard as an example, after the boot into the CMOS settings page, select "Powermanagementsetup" Power management settings. After entering, locate the "Acpisuspendtype" item, set it to "S3 (STR)" mode, and save the CMOS settings. When you use standby later, the chassis power is automatically turned off, and when the chassis power button is pressed, the system can recover at high speed to the save state when standby.
When using STR technology standby, you can not disconnect the motherboard power supply, otherwise save data will be lost. In addition, in the standby state through the mouse and the keyboard to wake the system, you can set in the CMOS, "PS/SKB/MSWAKEUPFROMS3-S5" set to "Enable" can be.
V. Solve the standby automatic recovery problem
Some systems in standby, will be automatically from the standby state of recovery, and automatically into standby state. This problem is mostly due to improper power settings of the NIC. On the secondary, you can expand network adapters in Device Manager, double-click the card entry to open the Properties window, and, on the Power Management tab, cancel the "Allow this device to leave the computer out of standby".
Six, for hibernation standby to raise speed
There are a few things to keep in mind when using hibernation and standby. For example, when the system uses hibernation for a long time, the data in memory is not emptied and the Windows XP operation slows down. At this point, you can use the "freemem" such as memory tools to do the finishing operation.
If you save a working file before hibernation, both temporary files and data are released, dramatically increasing the speed of hibernation and recovery, and enhancing data security at recovery time. In addition, the appropriate increase in the system disk space capacity, open the DMA channel of the disk, in the sleep and standby before dialing the USB device, can effectively improve the speed and stability of the sleep and standby.
