Map Lotus Domino/Notes to Microsoft products

Many existing Lotus Domino/Notes implementations already coexist with Microsoft technologies (such as Active Directory service and Microsoft Office) to some extent. Shows three aspects of Lotus Domino/Notes that should be taken into account for coexistence and migration environments.

Domino Directory and Active Directory

Although Domino Directory and Active Directory have different purposes, they also have some overlapping functions. For example, Domino Directory stores the information used when a mail is routed to a Notes user. When these users migrate to Exchange, the information needs to be available in Active Directory. The Exchange Lotus Notes migration wizard performs this function when migrating data from Lotus Domino to Exchange Server.

The Exchange Lotus Notes connector ensures that the latest email address information is available in both the Domino Directory and Active Directory During frequent interoperability when migrating from Domino Mail to the Exchange Server. This information is synchronized according to the schedule.

Email

When you migrate from the Domino Mail Server to the Exchange Server, the mail routing task will be transferred from the Domino Server to the Exchange Server. The process of migrating user information to Active Directory and migrating user email database from Domino mailbox to Exchange Server mailbox is executed by the Exchange Lotus Notes migration wizard. During this migration, both Domino and Exchange servers provide routing functions through the bridgehead server until all users migrate from the Domino Mail Server to the Exchange environment ..

Domino Application

Application Data is often migrated to Microsoft SharePoint products and technologies (Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Portal Server), and The provided templates (Microsoft InfoPath form and Microsoft.. NET. However, some applications cannot be well mapped to the current Microsoft Collaboration product. In this case, Microsoft recommends that these applications be retained on the Domino server and, possibly, access them through a browser until the application is decommissioned or can be rebuilt using Microsoft technology.

Planning, coexistence, and migration
