So how can we find the value of work? I think this is very difficult.

The first thing to answer is what is value. In my opinion, solving the customer's needs is the value of work. Customers can be users of the company's products, internal departments, or upper-level companies.

On this basis, we need to scan the input from the superior, the customer's needs, and their own improvement requirements. These are the inputs that may help me find value.

It is often difficult to achieve this. With this step, you have to take the measurement step. I think this is important and easy to ignore. Because when we propose our work goals, the measurement standards are usually static. That is to say, we are not able to show how this indicator is in the past and how it will be in the future. Even the goals we put forward may not be easily achieved.

If it cannot be measured, how can we reflect our value?

If you do not answer this question clearly, it is still equivalent to failing to find value. Therefore, organizations need to build functions similar to meteorological stations to help us collect data from various aspects. To help us measure our work.
