NGOSS (Next Generation Operational support systems) is proposed by TMF (Tele Management Forum). It is used in the telecommunications field and is a framework for building the next-generation OSS/BSS systems.

TMF provides a technical neutral architecture (TNA) as the technical framework of the NGOSS solution. In this way, NGOSS is established as a standard, which is independent of other technologies. TMF also provides a set of testing methods to verify that the solution complies with NGOSS standards.

The complete NGOSS framework consists of multiple components that can be independently implemented to solve business problems in a certain field. Let's give a basic explanation of the following parts:

ETOM (enhanced telecom operations map) reflects the business processes in the telecom field, which are necessary to develop a system. ETOM describes how the business process operates and interacts with each other in the telecom operation field. The definition of eTOM should meet the general conditions as much as possible and minimize the dependence on technology.

Sid (shared information/data model), which provides a data standard or object definition, this ensures smooth integration of systems established between different data providers. Sid provides a "protocol" for communication between systems. It defines object interfaces and relationships between objects. This interface is independently implemented by technology. Sid reduces the difficulty of interconnection between a system and external systems.

TNA (technology neutral architecture) is an important part of NGOSS. It defines how the process and Sid model in eTOM are combined to build a complete system. TNA does not define an actual technical architecture, but defines the principles that must be followed by this technical architecture to ensure the integrity of all parts of the OSS system, even in a distributed environment, it can also work together in a complete and orderly manner.

In addition, NGOSS provides a set of testing methods to verify that the solution complies with NGOSS standards.

The goal of NGOSS is to make it easier to maintain a solution that complies with its standards to respond to market changes more quickly.
