Overview of common project management organizations
I. Staff member organizations
As shown in figure, staff-level organizations are generally applicable to enterprises with relatively fixed business needs, such as state-owned enterprises or streamline production and manufacturing industries. The work tasks of such enterprises are generally arranged by the functional managers. Of course, at present, state-owned enterprises are also changing, not necessarily the full-rank structure.
Ii. Weak matrix organization
The weak matrix organization is similar to the full rank organization. The main difference is that there may be occasional projects that require collaboration between multiple departments. Select a project owner from the primary responsible department, it is mainly responsible for project coordination, and generally does not perform project assessment. Such organizations are common in modern state-owned enterprises.
Iii. Balanced matrix organization
The balanced matrix organization is a neutral structure. The daily work is arranged by the functional manager. When there is a project, the project manager is arranged from the main responsible department, and the project manager is dispatched from other functional departments as project members, generally, the project manager is responsible for project coordination, project member Task Arrangement, and project end evaluation. after the project is completed, the project manager will go back to the department and follow the arrangement of the functional manager. This type of organization is common and is often used by small and medium-sized IT companies.
Iv. Strong matrix organization
The strong matrix organization attaches great importance to project management. In addition to the Ministry of Vocational competence, the Project Management Department (Project Management Committee) is also set up specially. The project management department has a full-time project manager, project managers are responsible for managing the entire project, including member work arrangements, project coordination, and project member assessment. The project manager is the project manager (Project Director ). This type of organization is common in IT companies. Especially companies that are engaged in information construction.
5. Project-based organization
As shown in a project-only organization, the company's business is mainly for projects and projects. The project manager is responsible for completing the entire project and concentrating its rights, mainly for some professional contracting companies, such as decoration companies and construction contracting companies.
