Partition and format the hard disk to the specified file system under CentOS

A hard drive was added under the virtual machine.

You now need to partition and format your hard disk.

Typing the following command FDISK/DEV/SDC

And then in the pop-up dialog box, typing n (new partition)

As shown in the following figure


Type P

and then type 1

And then type +5g

and then type W

You can create a primary partition of 5G, and the partition number is SDC1

Leave the rest to the default.




If you want to create an extended partition, in Command (M for help): N

Command Action

E Extended

P primary partition (1-4)

Type E to create.

And then type mkfs-t EXT3/DEV/SDC1

You can format a SDC1 partition as a ext3 file system
