BKJIA Summary: in the previous article, we read performance considerations for DB2 concurrent connections. This time we will focus on performance optimization in the complex DB2 application environment.
The current production environment is very complex. performance issues involve various factors such as applications, application servers, databases, and networks. It is very difficult to quickly locate the performance bottleneck from a complex environment. The following describes a very useful tool to help you solve this problem. This tool is IBM's DB2 Performance Expert. Using DB2 Performance Expert V3.2, you can quickly find the Performance bottleneck of the system. As shown in:
Figure 3. system response time distribution chart
From this we can see that the current application (Gray) and database (black) occupy a large proportion, is the bottleneck of the system. Some status information of the database is described in detail.
Figure 4. Information Diagram of important database indicators
It can be seen that the sorting overflow is very large (to 100%), indicating that sortheap needs to be adjusted and the buffer pool ibmdefabp BP has a low hit rate (only 69.5%), indicating that the buffer pool is too small and needs to be increased. Therefore, it is a good choice to use DB2 Performance Expert to analyze system Performance problems.
Conclusion
This article analyzes the performance elements of DB2 and introduces the performance tools. It is hoped that the readers will have a clear context when analyzing performance issues, so that they can dive into the ground to solve related performance problems. It is also hoped that beginners can take this step as an entry level to start to systematically learn DB2-related fields.
