Prototype applications in mobile user experience design

In the existing mobile field, how can we incorporate the concept of "prototype" into our design? But now there are indeed a lot of apps designed to reflect the application of the prototype concept. It comes down to the following forms:

  • 1. Application-centric
  • 2. Activity-centric
  • 3. Time-centric
  • 4. Situation Awareness (geographical location) as the center
  • 5. Task-centered
  • 6. emotion-centered
  • 7. Focus on Characters

1. Application-centric

In this kind of mobile user experience prototype application, the interactive user experience mainly comes from applications. The operating system of mobile devices is the main engine for managing and running these apps. We use these apps as tools to complete our work.

For example, Apple's iPhone platform has an application center like a Swiss Army knife. This application center gives us the first impression that it is similar to a "buffet.

Mobile devices on other operating platforms are also displayed in this form. The operating system platform is like the "Tray" we use in the buffet, and apps is the "meal" we choose.

2. Activity-centric

In this prototype application of mobile user experience, focus is shifted to focus on activities. Activity defines the type of user experience. We often use visible visual forms to express activities and arrange them in sequence.

The most typical example is the metro interface of window phone7, which adopts the design orientation of "activity first" or "content first. During the first user experience, the most important activity information is directly displayed to the user, followed by the emphasis on his apps.

3. Time-centric

In this prototype application of mobile user experience, time is the main factor. When you operate and process data and information, the time is the main reference dimension.

4. Situation Awareness (geographical location) as the center

Situation (geographic location) Perception-centered user experience prototype originated from the rise of GPS applications and social networking websites. Users define and integrate other related geographic data through GPS, check in ).

An application called Photosynth allows users to re-disassemble and combine photos taken in one place to create a 3D virtual scene that can interact in the region.

Another application named Layar is to use the mobile phone camera to use the geographical location information of the user to achieve a user experience that combines Virtual Reality with reality.

5. Task-centered

In this kind of prototype applications, we commonly use "breadcrumb", which allows users to manage and complete tasks in the form of process accumulation. In this form, the forward and backward actions can be completed between tasks.

6. emotion-centered

Jonathan Harris's "We Feel Fine" is an emotional-centric interaction prototype, although it has not yet been transplanted to mobile platform devices, but it represents a potential trend. In this application, each data point represents a sentiment.

7. Focusing on Characters

Users who have experience in social networks should not be vague about this. Personal Characteristics and the characteristics of friends in your social network circle are the factors that need to be embodied in this prototype.

Summary

The interactive experience of our products or services is significantly different because of the prototype selection. For example, Twitter is typically centered on people's state characteristics. If we change the prototype it chooses to an emotional-centric linked in form, what will happen? It may bring a completely different experience to our professional social network.

The interaction design is still in its initial stage (especially in the mobile field). Some mobile user experience has achieved great success, but of course it is more difficult to meet the needs. The use of Interactive Prototype requires constant iteration and development, so that the user experience can be more mature and stable.

We believe that in the near future, more complex and diversified mobile interaction methods will emerge, and they will be able to add these mature and widely accepted prototypes to our user experience design, in a more intuitive way, the user experience is more pleasant.
