In this tutorial, you will learn how to create an abstract Diablo photo that uses the effects of crows and fragments. You will learn how to use simple methods to create these magical effects, add abstract elements, create depth, and so on.

Final effect:

We'll start our tutorial from a new Black-and-white background, then join the model and add some retouching to her. We will also use a fragment brush to build a broken effect on her hair. Then add some feathers, watercolors, crows, and so on. Finally, we will add some abstract paintings to decorate the model and complete our tutorial. You need Photoshop CS3 or newer software to complete the tutorial.

1th Step

Create a new 3307x2480 px document and fill it with white. Press Cmd/ctrl+shift+n to create a new layer. Press G to activate the gradient tool and select a radial gradient with #d5d5d5 and white (#ffffff). Drag a line from left to right.

2nd Step

Go to layers > Create new adjustment layer > Curve and Decrease Brightness:

Press B to activate the brush tool, changing the opacity of the brush to 20%~100%. Select the graph layer mask and draw on it to reduce the brightness of the portion of the position shown below the screenshot:

3rd Step

Import the model and put her on the left side of the canvas:

4th step

Click the second button at the bottom of the layers panel to create a new mask for the model. I used a black brush to remove my hair, shoulders, and hard edges on my neck (don't draw too much, just soften the edges). Then I use a fragment brush to draw on the edge of the mask to form the effect of fragmentation. For a fragment brush, you can set it as follows (press F5):

You can choose a different brush. This is my mask and picture effects:

5th step

Open the model again. Use the Lasso tool (L) to copy her hair and put the layer behind the model. Use the Transform tool (Edit > Transform > Twist) to bend her hair slightly:

Add a layer mask and smear with a fragment brush:

6th step

Select the layers of the model and hair, and then press Cmd/ctrl+g to group them. Change the group mode from penetration (default mode) to normal, 100%. On the hair layer, go to the layer > Create a new adjustment layer > Gradient map, and use the default color (black and white) to overlay in saturation mode:

7th step

To improve the contrast of the models I used the graph layer:

Use a soft black brush on the graph layer mask to brush off the contrast between the cheek and nose of the model to soften the skin:

8th Step

Create a new layer on top. Activate the pen tool, use the shape layer option (not the path), draw such a black shape on your eyes, and change the pattern to overlay 100%:

Add a layer mask to remove the part outside the face of the model:

9th step

Create a new layer, use the brush, color #ff0000, paint on the model's lips, and then change the pattern to overlay 100%.

10th Step

Creates a new layer and changes the foreground color to black. Select the abstract round brush (I put it first) on the forehead of the model. Using the Transform tool, adjust the graphic as shown in the following illustration:

I used the mask and made this:

11th Step

Create a new layer below the model group and change the brush to feather. Using feather No. 584, draw a feather in the back of the model's neck and rotate with cmd/ctrl+t:

Copy this layer and reverse horizontally (Edit > Transform > Flip horizontally). Move it to the right of the neck and group the two layers. I named them "Feathers 1″."

12th Step

Create three new layers on the model and add feathers to the front of the model's neck.

13th step

Create a few new layers and use different feathers around the model. Remember to change the size and angle of the brush to make it look more natural:

14th Step

In this step, I have added four feathers. In each layer, use filter > Blur > Gaussian blur, radius select 8.5 px:

Group the layers created from steps 12th through 14th. Call it "feathers 2″."

This step starts to create the depth of the image.
