The default location for the Active Directory database is the "c:\windows\ntds" directory, which you can redirect to another disk if you plan to allocate insufficient disk space during the initial deployment of AD DS, or if you are concerned about Active Directory database security. This system problem and later restore, are more convenient than the C disk.

1.1 redirect Active Directory database to stop the AD DS Service, log on to a read-write domain controller by using a domain administrator, enter the command:net stop NTDS

1.2 input ntdsutil, enter tool

1.5 at the file maintenace command prompt, use movedb to D:\NTDS(the command is case-insensitive) to move the database under "D:\ntds"

1.6 at the file maintenace command prompt, move the log file to "D:\ntds" using Move Logs to D:\NTDS

1.7 input two times quit quit ntdsutil tool, start AD DS domain service, enter command:Net Startntds
