Relationship between bandwidth, download speed, and network speed

Many people think that the bandwidth of 2 Mb is equivalent to the download speed of 2 Mbit/s, which leads to many misunderstandings. In fact, the transmission rate of data machines and network communication is generally measured in bps. For example, 28 kbps, 56 kbps, 128 Kbps, 1 Mbps, and 10 Mbps. Lowercase B indicates bit (BITs), capital B Indicates byte (bytes), and 1 byte = 8bit. Take the 2 M bandwidth as an example. For example, the download speed of 2 Mbps, such as 2x1024/8, is equal to the download speed of kb/s, but the above speed is only the theoretical maximum speed. In actual applications, the average download speed is about 30% kb/s, because we need to subtract about Ethernet headers, TCP headers, and ATM headers. Generally, the higher the bandwidth, the faster the download speed. However, in addition to being affected by service providers, the download speed may also be affected by the operating system, browser, and computer configuration used by users, it also has a close relationship with the server capabilities and bandwidth provided by the website you connect. (The more users browse the same website at the same time, the lower the bandwidth the website can provide to each viewer ). These affect the download speed.

The Network Speed refers to the time when the server responds to your connection request or exchanges the data you sent, that is, the network latency or ping value. The unit is MS (milliseconds ), many users equate the network speed with the download speed, which is also incorrect. The Ping value indicates the speed at which data is exchanged between the client and the server. The smaller the ping value, the better the network speed. Generally, the larger the bandwidth, the smaller the ping value, but the actual situation depends on the connection andRoutingNot surprisingly.

Note: The mbps bandwidth displayed for the broadband dial-up connection on your computer is the bandwidth of your computer Nic, not your actual bandwidth.
