Simple troubleshooting of common ADSL Broadband Access Network faults

ADSL Broadband Access networks are still commonly used. So I have studied the troubleshooting methods for common faults in ADSL Broadband Access networks. I would like to share with you here, hoping to help you. With the rapid development of the Internet, the ADSL Broadband Access Network is rapidly developing. The advantage of low price has become the first choice for network access for individual users. As you know, when the ADSL Modem receives the data signal, its signal lights will flash continuously. For this seemingly ordinary "Flickering" phenomenon, the friends who have just come into contact with ADSL will certainly not know the mysteries of the phenomenon, but simply think that it is better to flash, as to whether it has certain flashing rules, it may not be clear. In fact, there are many "secrets" hidden in the signal lights. You can observe the status of the signal lights and sometimes Analyze network faults! Believe it? Let's take a look at the following content!

Identify line faults

The ADSL Modem has a CD or Link indicator. By checking the working status of the lamp, you can identify the connection failure of the communication line connected to the ADSL Modem. Under normal working conditions, the indicator will soon be in a long bright state after power-on. If there are other abnormal states, it indicates that the line may have a fault, as shown in:

◆ If the CD or Link indicator keeps flashing, it indicates that the communication signal on the current line is unstable. If it returns to normal after a while, it indicates that the flashing status of the indicator is caused by the adjustment of the internal line of the telecommunications company.

◆ If the indicator remains flashing and cannot be restored to normal, it means that the communication line is actually faulty. At this point, you can test whether there is a signal in the telephone line. If there is a signal, it indicates that the line works normally. If no signal is tested, it indicates that the line may be transient or open circuit, at this time, you must ask professional maintenance personnel to help you fix the line fault.

◆ If there is a signal on the telephone line, the indicator is still flashing, it means the port is faulty. At this time, you can check whether the necessary separators are connected when the ADSL Broadband Access Network is in the household. Check whether the separator is connected to other devices, such as using an extension or anti-theft system. If all the above problems are ruled out and the status of the indicator does not return to normal, you need to ask the staff of the Communications Company to reset the network port. Generally, When resetting the network port, it will generate signals. If not, you can consider replacing a new ADSL Modem. Of course, I would like to remind you that even if you can use a telephone line to answer the call, it cannot be concluded that the line is certainly not faulty, because the ADSL Broadband Access Network signal and telephone signal, not the same channel used!

Identify power supply faults

Using the Power indicator in the ADSL Modem, you can easily determine whether the Power supply is faulty. If the ADSL Modem is powered on and finds that the Power indicator is not on, it can be determined that the Power supply of the device is abnormal, or the ADSL Power converter is faulty. At this time, the only way is to contact the sales merchant or professional repair shop.

Identify hardware faults

Using the Test or Diag indicator in the ADSL Modem, you can check whether your device has passed the self-check Test. Generally, this indicator will flash when the power of the ADSL Modem is connected. This indicates that the ADSL Broadband Access Network is in the self-check status. Once the self-check task is completed, this indicator will automatically go off. If the indicator is always on, it indicates that the ADSL Modem has not passed the self-check. In this case, you can first turn off the ADSL Modem, then turn on the power to see it, or directly press the reset button, to see if the fault can be solved. If the fault cannot be solved, it can be basically determined that the hardware device is faulty and must be replaced again.

Identify network faults

Using the LAN indicator in the ADSL Modem, you can easily diagnose whether the network devices and connections connected to your computer are normal. Under normal circumstances, the indicator is always on. If the light is not always on, it indicates that the network connection may fail. The specific performance is as follows: when the CD or Link indicator is on normally, if the LAN indicator is not on, it indicates that the network connection between the ADSL Modem and the network card is faulty. At this point, you can try to replace another network card.

If the LAN indicator is always on, but you cannot use the ADSL Broadband Access Network for dialing, it may be a problem with the dialing software. In this case, you can delete it from the system, and re-install the dialing software correctly, and use the correct dialing user name and password. If you still cannot work, you must press the reset button in the ADSL Modem to enable the ADSL Modem to work with the default network parameters. Note: When you press the reset button, you first find a circular hole about 2mm in diameter on the device and stamp it with something hard like a refill when the power is on, you can feel that the button has been pressed. At the same time, you must maintain this status for more than 10 seconds before the reset is successful.

If the LAN indicator is on and the ADSL Modem cannot communicate with each other, check whether the IP address of the NIC connected to the computer is correct. Note that the nic ip address must be in the same CIDR block as the IP address at the LAN of the ADSL Broadband Access Network; otherwise, communication will fail.
