Synthesis of fashion magazine pictures with PS

Source: Internet
Author: User

This picture was designed by Serbian illustrator Becha for a fashion magazine called "Silent Spring" (Silent Spring). This picture is a good illustration of the colorful clothes designed by the designer Ana Ljubinkovic in the form of poster posters.

This piece combines photographic work and becha design elements. In this PS tutorial, you can learn how to combine photographic elements and hand-drawn design elements naturally into a single image, to get a surreal picture of the illusion. This PS tutorial will focus on the mask, magic wand tools, texture and adjustment layer, pull the map and other skills.

Final Effect Diagram:

Figure 01

First step:

First, you need to create a new file in Photoshop with a canvas size of 25cm, high 31cm and 300dpi resolution.

Then create a gradient fill layer (Layer > new fill layer > Gradient). Click the default gradient edit, and change the opacity to 100%, then select #dfe8d7 Color on the left, select #68acbd color on the right, and then position to select 70%, which can be seen as a background similar to the Sky color style. Click OK, and make sure that the gradient is rendered from a light to dark gradient from the bottom to the top.

Next, apply the noise filter (Filter > Noise > Add Noise), set the number to 4%, and select the average distribution, which makes the entire background look clean.

Figure 02

Step Two:

This opens the model material in Photoshop. This step is mainly to pull the map operation. In Photoshop, there are many ways to pull the graph, the author mainly uses the Magic wand tool and quick mask. Select the Magic Wand tool, tolerance 30, then click the background with the magic wand tool, and then hold down the SHIFT key to increase the selection.

To further modify the details of pearls and flowers, you need to use the Quick Mask mode (choose > Edit in Quick Mask mode), and use a brush to fill in the parts that need to be saved. Then close the Quick mask mode, select > Ctrl+shift+i, and finally copy and paste the model into your canvas.

Figure 03

Step Three:

In order to make the model and the background more harmonious, here we need to adjust the hue, reduce the contrast. Image > Adjustment > Brightness/contrast, set the parameter to-30.

A useful technique here is to copy the model layer (CTRL+J), select the layer below the two layers, and then use the filter > Blur > High is the filter blur with the radius set to 45px. At the same time, the pattern of that layer is set to strong light mode. In this way, the model can be presented with a three-dimensional standing effect, and as if there is a flash light.

Figure 04

Fourth Step:

Next, open the footage of the deer in Photoshop. Select a portion of the deer head, antlers, and flowers, using the same cutout method as in step 2.

Paste the selected portion of the copy into the canvas and place it behind the model, then resize and tint. Turn on image > Adjustment > Levels, and the middle slider on the parameter setting that says the color level slides to 1.5 to make the color more consistent with the background.

Figure 05

2 add flowers, branches and other materials to the canvas

Fifth Step:

In this step, we will add some more flowers. In Photoshop, open the flower material, copy and paste it into the canvas so that it is below the model, as shown in the picture. Next, open the rose material and then make a rough selection around it using the polygonal lasso tool to fill the vacancy on the model's clothes.

Figure 06

Sixth step:

To increase the contrast, we'll add some warm colors and different shapes to the canvas. The author chooses some branches, the original image is blue, but the author changed it to Red.

Sequentially open the branch file in the material, use the Magic wand tool, the tolerance is 50, select the background, then select > reverse (ctrl+shift+i), and copy the branches into the picture. To change their color, you need to apply hue/saturation to adjust (ctrl+u), set the hue to 180, and then turn on the levels (CTRL+L) to brighten their brightness, and the parameter settings are: 0/1.18/229.

Figure 07

Seventh Step:

Here, we want the branches to show the effect of stretching out from behind the model. Therefore, you need to use the Transform tool (ctrl+t) to adjust the shape and size. When you get the shape you're satisfied with, you can select all the hierarchies and merge them (ctrl+e).

Figure 08

Eighth Step:

In this step, we also need to add some details to the branch to make it look more interesting. There are already pearls on the dress of the model, so we will mainly use some flowers.

Open the pearl material and use the Elliptical Marquee tool (M) to select a pearl. Copy and paste into the canvas, here to use the inner Glow layer mode, the transparency of 72, the color is #d9f1fd, size is 46, this can make the pearl presents a special luster. Then click the right mouse button on the Layers panel and select the grid layer. After that, you can adjust the size of the pearls.

Use Ctrl+j to copy pearls several times, then adjust the size and shape of each pearl and place it on a branch. You can put some at the top, so it looks as if they are suspended in the air.

Figure 09

Nineth Step:

This step is mainly to add text text. I hope to give the work a natural feeling, it will look more like a piece of art. To do this, I first draw the vector map in the illustrator, and then copy and paste it into the canvas as a Photoshop smart object. The author uses the "Silent Spring" text (the footage has been provided), and of course you can choose what you like.

To make the text look deep, it looks like a floating cloud. The author mainly uses the bevel and relief, in addition, also uses the color overlay layer style, the color is #faf2dc.

Figure 10

Tenth step:

These texts need to be shaded in addition to having the correct color and size. To create a shadow, you create a new layer on the text, and then CTRL + Click to make a selection in the thumbnail of the layers panel, and use the gray soft brush to draw the shadow. The opacity is 50% and the flow is 30. This will help you give them a three-dimensional visual effect.

Figure 11

11th Step:

This step is mainly to add a halo to the model. Because the author wants to achieve a kind of hand-made feeling, so use the drawing.

Open circlescan.jpg, of course, you can also use your own drawings, scan and then copy and paste into the canvas. Because of the main use of white graphics, it is necessary to invert the image here. Image > Adjust > ctrl+shift+i, then use blending mode while reducing transparency to 80%.

Figure 12

12th Step:

In order to make the model's eyes look like a ceramic mask, here the Pen tool (P) is carefully outlined around her eyes.

Go to the window > path, while holding down the CTRL key, click on the work path thumbnail and make a selection based on the path. Create a new layer and fill it with white (SHIFT+F5).

Next, load the selection from that layer, then select the model layer and use CTRL+J to copy part of the layer. Move this part to the top of the white layer, where ctrl+shift+u can be turned into black and white. Load this mask again, then select Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur and set the radius to 5px.

Then, using the level adjustment, the white slider has a value of 198. Now, you need to add some extra shadows to make it look more realistic. Select the soft side brush, color #8b6952, opacity is 40%, and then add a shadow on a new layer, the layer mode is mixed mode. In fact, it is best to use graphics digital board and pen to handle, if not, you need to be careful with the mouse.

Figure 13

13th Step:

In this step, the main hope is to create a feeling of paint dripping in the hand of the model. This is handled in the same way as in step 12th. But this time, you need to create a shadow from scratch.

Figure 14

14th Step:

Finally, open the texture footage, copy and paste it to the top of the layer, and use the soft light mode. The main purpose of adding textures is to visually connect the various elements together. I think that this is a good way to try different textures and blending modes until you try to get the right results.

When we get here, we can finish the color adjustment. Layer > New Adjust layer > curve, select Green curve, enter as 169, output 179.
