Ribbon User Interface

The main alternative to Office PowerPoint 2007, which replaces menus and toolbars, is the Ribbon. For ease of browsing, the Ribbon contains multiple tabs that are organized around a particular scenario or object. The controls on each tab are further organized into multiple groups. The ribbon can host richer content than menus and toolbars, including buttons, picture libraries, and dialog box content.

In addition to tabs, groups, and commands, Office PowerPoint 2007 uses other elements to provide a way to accomplish tasks. The following elements are closer to the menus and toolbars that you already know in earlier versions of PowerPoint. The dialog Box Initiator dialog Box Launcher is a small icon that appears in some groups. Clicking the dialog Box Launcher opens the relevant dialog box or task pane, which provides more options related to the group.

Add commands to the Quick Access Toolbar

As shown in the last table in this article, some of the PowerPoint 2003 commands are available only from the list of all commands in the PowerPoint Options dialog box in Office PowerPoint 2007. To use these commands in Office PowerPoint 2007, you should first add them to the Quick Access Toolbar as shown below:

• Click Microsoft Office buttons, and then click PowerPoint Options.

• In the list on the left, click Customize.

• In the Select commands from Drop-down list box, click All commands.

• In the Customize Quick Access Toolbar box, select for all documents (default) or a specific document.

• Click the command you want to add, and then click Add.

• Repeat for all commands you want to add.

• Click the move up and Move down arrow buttons to schedule commands to arrange them in the order that you want them to appear on the Quick Access Toolbar.

• Click OK.
