With a predefined frameset, you can easily select the type of frameset you want to create.
There are two ways to create a predefined frameset:
- By inserting a column, you can create a frameset and display the current document in a new frame.
- The New Document dialog box creates a fresh empty frameset.
To create a predefined frameset and display an existing document in a frame, do the following:
- Place the insertion point in the document.
- Do one of the following:
- Select a predefined frameset from the Insert > HTML > Frames submenu.
- In the layout category of the Insert column, click the drop-down arrow on the Frame button, and then select the predefined frameset.
The frameset icon provides a visual representation of each frameset that is applied to the current document. The blue area of the frameset icon represents the current document, while the white area represents the frame that will display the other document.
Note When you apply a frameset, Dreamweaver automatically sets the frameset so that the current document (the document where the insertion point is located) is displayed in a frame.
If you have set Dreamweaver to prompt you for the Framework accessibility properties, the Frame Tag Accessibility Properties dialog box appears.
If the frame Tag Accessibility Properties dialog box appears, complete this dialog box for each frame, and then click OK.
Note If you click Cancel, the frameset appears in the document, but Dreamweaver does not associate it with accessibility labels or properties.
To create a new empty predefined frameset, do the following:
- Select "File" > "new".
- In the New Document dialog box, select the frameset category.
- Select the frameset from the frameset list.
- Click Create. The frameset appears in the document, and if you have activated the frame Tag Accessibility Properties dialog box in Preferences, the dialog box will also appear.
- If the frame Tag Accessibility Properties dialog box appears, complete this dialog box for each frame, and then click OK.
Note: If you press Cancel, the frameset appears in the document, but Dreamweaver does not associate it with accessibility labels or properties.
