"China has no real C2C"

Talking about online shopping fakes that have been hotly debated by the media some time ago, Yang Guomeng believes this is the root of the free-of-charge model, which is also one of the main problems facing China's C2C market.

"They (Taobao) engaged in free transactions, broken industry rules, transactions without costs, sellers can use fake transactions to raise credibility, which gave rise to the counterfeit problem, at the same time, it also causes a series of problems such as credit card cash-out." Yang Guomeng said.

Yang pointed out that, in fact, there is no real C2C in the Chinese market, and C2C in the U.S. market is sold for second-hand goods. Due to different living habits, China's second-hand goods market is not large, and many C2C businesses are small businesses. Therefore, China's C2C is similar to B2C in the United States.

Some Taobao people believe that, because the Chinese market is more complex than the U.S. market, the free model is a necessary stage for the development of China's e-commerce market. If you keep paying for the C2C market, it is hard to see the prosperity of the market today.

In fact, since the C2C model only makes popularity and does not make money, Baidu youah, Taobao and other e-commerce platforms are no longer keen on the C2C concept.

Jack Ma, founder of Taobao and chairman of the board of directors of Alibaba, said recently that Taobao has never imagined itself as C2C, and more enterprises are using Taobao to promote their own products. Li Yanhong, Chairman and CEO of Baidu, also said that Baidu is optimistic about the B2C market and more enterprises will become accustomed to doing business on the Internet in the future.

TOM eBay's shopping business

Similar to the C2C concept of top executives of Baidu and Taobao, the Tom group is actively seeking breakthroughs in similar B2C fields.

It is understood that TOM eBay is currently managed by Yang Guomeng. This year, the company wants to use the "purchasing" business to revitalize EBay. In the future, eBay hopes to develop strategic partners to differentiate its business from the C2C business that has been popular in the past.

Yang Guomeng said that the development of a more profitable U.S. purchasing business is a task that Tom and eBay have worked hard to do this year. He believes that this is what Chinese consumers really need. In the past, factors such as logistics and payment all restricted the development of this market. Previously, Tom group had strategic cooperation with China Post to try to break through the logistics bottleneck.

Some people familiar with the matter believe that the reason why TOM Yiqu values the overseas purchasing business is that, first of all, the profit in this field is high and the market space is huge. Second, purchasing often involves high prices, complicated procedures, and after-sales services, this is something eBay's main competitor, Taobao's network operator, was not good at before.

"Do you dare to buy a 70 thousand yuan table on Taobao ?" Yang Guomeng joked that not all of TOM's shopping businesses can do it.

TOM has planned the future direction for eBay and created a healthy shopping platform to provide users with better credit and fault reporting. It not only targets first-tier cities, but also involves more second-and third-tier cities. "The Tom group is preparing a lot of actions, and more strategies will be appreciated in the future ." Yang Guomeng said
