1. Introduction
Virtualbox is a cross-platform Virtual Machine Software. It can run on many operating systems, such as Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris. Supports running multiple virtual machines at the same time, including windows, Mac, and Linux. Okay, the advertisement is sold here.
2. Installation
I recommend that you install it manually because it is relatively simple. Please go to https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/linux_downloadsto download the example. Download amd64 if the host is a 64-bit host. If it goes well, you will get a file named virtualbox-xxxxxxxxxx.deb, mine for virtualbox-4.1_4.1.18-78361 ~ Ubuntu ~ Lucid_amd64.deb. Installation command:
sudo dpkg -i virtualbox-4.1_4.1.18-78361~Ubuntu~lucid_amd64.deb
After the installation is complete, you can create a virtual machine. As for how to install the virtual machine, we will not introduce it because it is relatively simple. If you encounter problems, please refer to the https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01.html#idp12732624 here.
3. shared directory
1) Add a shared directory to the Virtual Machine
First, add a shared directory to your VM. When the VM is disabled, click vritualbox ---> setting ---> shared folders to add the directory.
2) install the virtualbox plug-in for the Virtual Machine
After the virtual machine is enabled, you still cannot access the shared directory you just set because the virtual machine needs to install the virtualbox plug-in. Click virtualbox ---> devices ---> install guest additions .... Then the VM will pop up the program, click Next, continue, and so on until it is complete.
After the installation is complete, you can not only access the shared directory you just set through \ vboxsvr \ Foldername (note that Foldername is the name of the shared directory you just set ). You can also smoothly switch between host and guest without pressing host (right CTRL.
4. Shared USB device
1) set groups
To enable the virtual machine to recognize the USB device, you only need to add the current user to the vboxusers group. Operation Method: Ubuntu ---> system ---> Administration ---> users and groups. The users Settings dialog box is displayed. Click Manage groups, find the vobxusers group, and click Add, in the displayed dialog box, enter your username.
2) modify the Virtual Machine USB configuration and install the plug-in
Modify the configurations of a virtual machine. Vritualbox ---> setting ---> USB, choose Enable USB controller. If you need Enable USB 2.0 (EHCI) controller, install the Oracle VM virtualbox extension pack plug-in. Download To The https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads here, the installation method is very simple, find the file just downloaded, double-click the mouse on the line. Note that the plug-in version must be the same as the virtualbox version you have installed.
3) Enable USB devices
One of the troubles is that virtualbox does not automatically detect the USB device. It needs to manually mount the USB device to the virtual machine. Click virtualbox ---> devices ---> USB devices. Select your USB device and it will immediately appear on the VM.
