Ubuntu10.04-lts Installation notes

Ubuntu10.04 is an lts version. It is not used to the gnome3 style of the new version. I decided to use this version for a while and liked its interface style.

1. USB Installation

The old method is to use ultraiso to burn the image to the USB,The following error may be returned: cocould not find kernel image: Linux. I have also encountered it before. Later I installed it on CD. I found the solution via Google as follows:
1) Ensure that the syslinux. cfg file exists in the USB flash drive. The file location may vary depending on the installed version, usually in the/boot/syslinux directory or/syslinux directory.

If the isolinux. cfg file exists in the USB flash drive but does not exist in the syslinux. cfg file, rename the isolinux. cfg file
Syslinux. cfg.

3) if the syslinux. cfg file exists but still encounters this error, open the syslinux. cfg file in a text editor to ensure that your kernel and initialization file path are correct..

Follow the above steps.

2. Installation Language

After the installation is started, you will be prompted to install the supported language. Follow the prompts to perform the operation. After you log out and log on again, it will become Chinese.

3. Install the Input Method

Ibus is a framework that supports multiple input methods.

Problem 1: the built-in Pinyin input method is incorrect in Ubuntu. It cannot input Chinese and Chinese phrases by default. Please install other ibus-based input methods independently.
Problem 2: The ibus1.2.0 version of Ubuntu has a bug. After the backspace key is used to delete characters, the input method cannot continue to work. Use the third-party source of PPA to upgrade ibus to version 1.3.6 or later. (The official Ubuntu software source has not been updated to the latest version)

How to upgrade ibus with the third-party source of PPA:
Enter at the terminal:

Sudo add-Apt-repository PPA: Shawn-p-Huang/PPA
Sudo apt-Get update
Sudo apt-Get install ibus-GTK ibus-qt4 IBM-pinyin ibus-pinyin-db-open-phrase
