Use spatial adjustment tool for Spatial Data Correction

Spatial adjustment can be used to correct the location of a factor so that it can match the data in the database more accurately; it can also match the units of data obtained from a digital device or scanner to the units in the real world. It can also match low-precision data to high-precision data.

Space correction tools include space transform, rubbersheet, edge match, and attribute transfer. Each tool has one option.

This document takes the exercise data in arctutor as an example to briefly describe how to use the spatial adjustment tool.

In the following example, the purple small part is located on the right side of the blue main graph, but for some reason, it not only has incorrect coordinate values, but also has incorrect direction and size. Therefore, the purple small part should be transformation to convert (shift), rotate, scale, and even distort if necessary.

Calibration Procedure:

5. Create a replacement Link

Check the residual in table. If the residual is too large, you can delete or reset the link to avoid affecting the correction effect. The more evenly the placement links are distributed, the more accurate the connections are, the better the correction effect.

6. Perform correction

Wait tips: Before executing adjust, you often need to preview one to see how it works. If you are satisfied with the effect, you can execute adjust. If you are not satisfied with the correction effect, you should go back to step 1, check whether the replacement link is set properly.
