Introduction: You want to use the mail recall feature, now use the IBM Lotus Notes/domino V8 You can recover mail messages. Learn how the message Recall feature works, and how to configure, control, and deploy the feature in this article.
The mail message recovery feature is one of the most needed IBM Lotus Notes/domino V8 features. By default, the server and client will enable this feature, allowing you to retract mail messages that are sent incorrectly. This article explores how message recovery functions work, discusses how to configure and control this feature, and covers some of the details of designing and deploying the feature.
How message Recovery works: the basics
From the user's point of view, the use of mail recovery is relatively simple. Simply open the Sent view of the Lotus Notes V8 mail file, highlight the message you want to retract, and then click the Recall Messages button in the Action bar (see Figure 1).

A dialog box appears that shows the original recipient, either unchecked, or select recipients to get the response (see Figure 2).

When you click OK, a dialog box appears indicating that a recall request has been performed. If the settings are correct, the message is removed from the recipient's message. You will receive a report that tells you what messages have been retracted (and whether they have been read), whether there are messages that cannot be retracted, and why they cannot be retracted. Now let's look at the underlying principles behind this simple process.
