Iv. installation of the VSS6.0 server
After we've given the whole solution, let's look at how to install the VSS server. VSS 6.0 is a member of the Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 suite, and we will explain this version as an example.
The first step is to put the CD1 of Visual Studio 6.0 into the CD-ROM, automatically enter the installer, and select the second "Server Applications and Tools", as shown in Figure 1;

The second step, and then in the "Server setups" in the "Server components" select "Visual Source Safe Server", press the "Install" button, according to the prompts to put CD2, as shown in Figure 2;

The third step, according to Installation wizard prompts, continue the installation process, select the installation path, press the button in the upper left corner of Figure 3, the system continues to install until you are prompted to reboot to make the newly installed program effective and restart the computer.
The installation of a VSS 6.0 server is simpler, it can be installed either under Windows NT or under Windows 9x.
V. Installation of the VSS 6.0 client
After the VSS 6.0 server is installed, the client's software can be installed under the direction of the VSS Administrator. Because we are within a subnet of a Windows environment, each PC client can access the VSS server through its network neighborhood. After the VSS administrator indicates the location of the VSS client software Installer "Netsetup.exe" to the user, the user can locate the program in the Network Neighborhood directly from Explorer "explorer" and double-click to run it, as shown in Figure 1.

After the Netsetup.exe is started, enter the installation of the VSS client, and enter the username and workgroup name in the following prompt box, as shown in Figure 2.
After selecting the installation path for VSS, click the Install icon in Figure 3 to go to the actual installation step and the work will be done automatically by the system.
