VMware Workstation Easy entry and installation of CentOS 7

A. A brief introduction to VMware workstation:

VMware Workstation is one of the commercial software products that vmware companies sell. This product includes a Intelx86 kit for a compatible PC that allows users to easily create and run multiple x86 virtual machines at the same time, each of which can run its own operating system in a relatively closed environment. These operating systems are not just windows, but also derived versions of Linux,bsd. VMware Workstation is backwards compatible and can be used to run virtual machines created in older versions of VMware Workstation. Transferring the server to the virtual environment can simplify the management of the system, reduce the requirement of hardware and make full use of the existing hardware resources. Currently, the Windows,linux,mac OS has a corresponding version available for use.
Here is an example of the VMware Workstation-Pro interface.

File options: Primarily used to create virtual machines and to be managed for virtual machine tabs that have been created.

Editing options: The most important thing is to make a virtual network adjustment.

Viewing options: Mainly adjusts the display size of the virtual machine.
Virtual machine options: The corresponding part of the management of the individual virtual machines, often with power management, snapshot management and hardware configuration adjustment.
Tabs and help options are basically not used.

Two. Installation environment configuration for CentOS 7:

First, click on the home page to create a new virtual machine or File option to create a new virtual machine into the new wizard, which is typically 2 options typical and customized.

Since it is easy to get started, the typical installation is chosen here, and the customization is not a repeat. Then click Next to enter to choose how to install the system.
This is provided in 3 ways, DVD drive, ISO image installation (if the image is selected here, VMware Workstatios automatically detects the system version of the ISO file and installs it for easy installation) and installs it later. We choose to install later and go to manually select the system that will be installed.

In selecting the operating system interface we can clearly see the current VMware Workstation support operating system. You can click the drop-down button on the right side of the Version tab to select specific version information. Choose CentOS 64-bit here.

The next step is to set up the name of the virtual machine and install the path (see here for a personal preference).

After we have completed the name and path setting, we are going to set the disk capacity. Here we have a default option to do just fine. If the individual is required to be able to modify the respective needs. After the setup is complete, our basic hardware environment is set up.
If you want to change the CPU, memory and other hardware modifications, you can customize the hardware options to make more detailed changes. Finally click Finish to see a CentOS 64-bit virtual machine option on the main screen.

Three. Specific installation of CentOS 7:

Double-click the CD/DVD under the left-hand device to set the ISO file for the system we want to install, I am using the everything version of CentOS 7, which makes it easy to configure the local Yum source later. After clicking OK, click on the main screen to open the virtual machine to install it.

Go all the way up until you choose the installation process language interface, for convenience and easy to understand here use Chinese as the language option during installation. (Some of the options are in English, just a little bit here.)

When you click Continue, the necessary information is automatically detected and self-setting. Here, the installation location, we need to make specific settings.


Clicking on the installation settings will go to the specific adjustment interface of the disk device.
Click on the disk we set up earlier in the environment settings, then click Done, will fall back to the previous interface, the installation location of the XXX warning will disappear, if you need to set other options can adjust their own, here no longer one by one detailed. After you click Start installation, the system is formally installed.

Here we can make the root password setting and login account settings, usually we should not be logged in as root, in case of accidental operation accidentally occurred. This is just a test, so just set the root password. The difference between CentOS7 and 6 is that 6 enforces a minimum of 6 characters, but 7 is no longer restricted, but security warnings are made.

Then quietly wait for the system to install ~~ ~

This completes the basic system installation, click Restart, to boot the local disk.

The graphical interface is not installed as a result of a minimized installation. The normal entry to the command line interface proves that the installation was successful. Here, as a test, you log in as root.

Here the default network card is not started, so to VI/ETC/SYSCONFIG/NETWORK-SCRIPTS/IFCFG-ENS33 (IFCFG-ENS33 network card configuration file), change Onboot to Yes, then save, The IP address can be obtained properly by performing the Systemctl Restart Network Restart Web service.

Finally ping the physical host and Baidu found all normal, this installation CentOS7 successfully completed.
