After using a wireless router, the speed of a computer, laptop, or mobile phone cannot reach the network speed of China Telecom broadband. For example, if the bandwidth you requested from China Telecom is 12 M and the network speed is only 4 M after using the router, you need to perform the following troubleshooting.
About the network speed: the bandwidth speed provided by the carrier is measured in Mbps, while the speed measurement software or download software is measured in MB/s, 1 Byte = 8 bits. Please note the unit conversion, for example, 12 Mbps = 1.25 MB/s.
For the problem that the test speed cannot reach the actual bandwidth, we will introduce the solution in the following two cases:
I. Slow speed of computer wired connection
2. Normal wired and wireless speed measurement
1
Eliminate interference from other terminals
A vro can provide shared internet access for multiple computers. When other computers in the intranet occupy the bandwidth for internet applications such as downloads and games, the test speed cannot reach the actual bandwidth.
Disconnect other terminals (including wired and wireless terminals) that connect to the vro and use only the LAN ports of a computer to connect to the vro for speed measurement. That is, speed is measured by using the network structure of one computer, one router, and one broadband.
2
Select authoritative software for speed measurement
When testing the network speed, please use the official website of China Telecom or other commonly used speed testing tools: 360 broadband speed measuring machine, Thunder and other BT download software to download multiple popular resource speed testing.
Note:Do not use the speed measuring tool searched on the Internet, which may result in unreliable speed measurement due to software problems.
Please test the speed measuring tool several times and compare it with multiple groups of data to avoid affecting the test result due to instability of the speed measuring software server.
3
Disable computer background programs
If P2P software or its hidden processes are enabled on the computer, typically video or download software such as PPS, PPTV, BT, and Thunder, even if the software has not been downloaded, it also downloads and uploads data in the background, thus affecting the network speed.
We recommend that you install software such as a computer manager on your computer to monitor the traffic of each software process. If necessary, close the related process and check that no additional process occupies the bandwidth before testing the network speed.
4
Disable the network speed limit (bandwidth control)
Log on to the vro management page and click
Device Management
>
Master network, Confirm that there is no speed limit for the speed measuring terminal, as shown in the figure below:
If the router is a traditional interface, log on to the management interface and click
IP
Bandwidth ControlAre you sure you do not select
Enable
IP
Bandwidth Control.
5
Check WAN port rate settings
If the speed of the WAN port of the router is 10 m, the speed measurement on the wide strip road with a bandwidth greater than 10 Mbps will affect the computer speed measurement result. Make sure that the WAN port speed is set to self-negotiation.
On the vro management page, click
Route settings
>
Internet settings
>
Advanced Settings, Confirm that the WAN port speed is
Automatic negotiation, As shown in the following figure:
If the router is a traditional interface, click
Network Parameters
> WAN
Port rate and duplex mode, Select
Automatic negotiation.
Note:: Some traditional interface routers do not support adjusting the WAN port rate. The default value is automatic negotiation.
6
, Port adaptability
There is a certain adaptability between the broadband network cable and the WAN port of the router, which may affect the network speed of the terminal under the router. You can try to change the network cable of the WAN port and try again.
1
Check the Maximum wireless rate
Check the maximum rate supported by wireless terminals or routers. If either of the two is smaller than the applied bandwidth, the bandwidth cannot be measured by using wireless devices. For example, if the bandwidth is 100 Mbps and the maximum wireless rate supported by the wireless router or terminal is 54Mbps or 150 Mbps, the network speed cannot reach 100 Mbps when the wireless terminal is used to test the network speed.
Generally, a mbps bandwidth router or network card can experience full speed.
Note:The wireless speed of mbps can reach a maximum of 80 Mbps in the actual environment.
The maximum wireless rate supported by a wireless router or wireless terminal. Consult the relevant manufacturer.
2
Eliminate interference from other terminals
Disconnect the wired terminal under the router from other wireless terminals and connect only one wireless terminal to the router. Ensure that no other terminal uses the wireless network to access the Internet or transmit data, so as not to affect the test result.
3
Check wireless signal strength
When testing the network speed, please bring the wireless terminal close to the router and speed the speed when the signal is strong. If the distance is too far or there is a wall or obstacle, it will affect the negotiation rate of the wireless terminal, resulting in inaccurate speed measurement.
4
Disable the speed limit function
Log on to the vro management page and click
Device Management
>
Master networkCheck that no speed limit is set for this terminal, as shown in the following figure.
If the vro is a traditional interface, log on to the management interface and click
IP
Bandwidth ControlAre you sure you do not select
Enable
IP
Bandwidth Control.
5
Check wireless settings
On the vro management page, check
Wireless modeDefault value:
11bgn mixed,
BandwidthIs
AutomaticIf you select the 11bg mixed and 11g only modes, the wireless speed of the router is changed to 54 Mbps. In the case of a wide-bandwidth line, the wireless network speed test may be inaccurate.
Do not use traditional interface routers
WEP,
WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK TKIPOtherwise, the wireless rate of the router will change to 54 Mbps.
6
Avoid wireless interference
During network speed testing, do not use wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, cordless phone, or other devices around the vro or speed measuring terminal. The test results may be affected due to mutual interference. In addition, in order to avoid the impact of other wireless devices, adjust the wireless channels to 1, 6, and 11 on the router management interface, and then re-test.
