I usually ask myself why, because it will again determine the value of doing something and the corresponding motivation.
Why Emacs? Is it worthy to spend long time mastering it?
For the writing program, I think Eclipese has fulfilled almost all the conditions for me to write Python java C + +. Can be configured to write OpenGL. Write objective C only with Xcode. So writing a program is not the reason why I have to master it.
I've always had the urge to write a mail mailbox recently. Because all of the mailbox features that you recognize are too limited. Want to have a suitable RSS reader, Mac did not find anything good and free. The most important is the client without blogging. As a learning textprocessing, it is uncomfortable to use an editor that does not make statistical analysis of machine learning for user input. What I'm now using to maintain the task table is Wunderlist said that Emacs's org-mode can be solved.
Some people might think why not go back to Windows or use other software? I think people who have used Linux and UNIX development may not want to go back to Windows. and other software, I am now using a lot of software, such as to use the calendar to remind myself of each game. Gmail is barely able to categorize a variety of emails, but for me it's not enough, and I think an email should at least be categorized with regular expressions. Wunderlist is perfect, but lack of effective statistics on all kinds of events, this seems to me to say the mishap. Even though all of the above are perfect, I still want to learn Emacs because I can go to personal customization and put them together. This will no longer boot up for a long time because you want to use a small feature of a software.
The difficulty of Emacs, as a long-term use of vim and tried a variety of Ides, I am very very difficult. I have tried many times and I have thought of one thing, and if I fail this time again, I will use Python to re-write an editor to emulate some of my favorite features of Emacs. This blog post is used only to remind yourself why you are learning emacs. Give yourself motivation.
