Because IE9 beta is in the form of an update, the corresponding item cannot be found in the uninstall program. And after you install IE9 beta, you won't be able to generate a hidden IE7 or IE8 folder in the Windows directory of the system disk, like IE7 or IE8, which means we can't find the IE9 beta uninstall process as before.

So if you want to uninstall IE9 Beta, we can only uninstall the corresponding item in the "View installed Updates" list, as shown in the figure:

However, some users found that the IE9 Beta project could not be found in "View installed Updates", resulting in the inability to uninstall IE9 Beta. This problem may occur when other software interference is received during installation, causing no correct write uninstall information, or cleaning up the system with a Third-party cleanup tool after the IE9 beta is installed, causing the relevant information to be purged. Since the problem cannot be reproduced in a normal computer, it is not yet possible to identify the real cause of the problem.

In this case, we can use the command-line method to try uninstalling IE9 Beta.

1. Click "Start"-"All Programs"-"Attachment", right-click "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator".

2. Copy the following command:

forfiles/p%windir%servicingpackages/m microsoft-windows-internetexplorer-*9.*.mum/c "cmd/c Echo Uninstalling Package @fname && start/w pkgmgr/up: @fname/norestart "

3. After the copy, right click on the "Command Prompt" window, select "Paste", Paste command, press ENTER to run this command.

Note: 0x80040005 error may occur during the run, we can click "OK" and ignore it.

4. After the operation completes, please restart your computer, open IE browser, and see if IE9 uninstalled successfully and restored to the IE8 version.

If you still can't uninstall, we can only use System Restore to try to fix the problem by restoring the system to a point in time before the IE9 beta is installed.

We can change the view of the Control Panel to large icon, and then find the System Restore option in recovery.

If the System Restore function is not turned on or the restore point fails, you can use the installation CD to fix the system to solve the problem.

Repair installation (upgrade installation)

1. Run the installation image of Windows and select Install Now.

2. Choose not to get the latest updates for the installation on the next screen.

3. Enter the product key and press the next step.

4. Select the product category and press the next step.

5. Accept the agreement and press the next step.

6. In the Installation Type screen, please select the upgrade.

7. Please try to update your computer again after the installation is complete.

Speaking of System Restore, we found that some anti-virus software may affect the System Restore function, resulting in the restore point is not available.
