The machine must be on the same LAN, and the network location of each machine is "home":
1. Create on one of the machines
Control Panel---HomeGroup---Share resource selection---Write down the password--complete
If you are prompted that Windows cannot set up a homegroup on this computer, you need to start a service that starts with "home" on that machine and place it in auto-start
Network--Network and Sharing Center---change advanced sharing settings---Enable Network discovery---Turn off password-protected sharing-allows Windows to manage homegroup connections---save changes
2. Other computers:
Control Panel---HomeGroup---Join---Enter your password now--complete
3. You can see the printers shared in the HomeGroup in the printer list
4. Computer navigation: The homegroup sees the computers that are joined.
5. Share your own files to the homegroup:
Find the file you want to share, right-click > Share > HomeGroup (read), choose homegroup (read/write) If you allow other members of the HomeGroup to edit
