The solution for WIN8 disk drive letter loss is as follows:
Because of a virus or misoperation, you may lose the disk drive letter in your system, and you cannot find and open partitions on your computer, typically by reassigning the drive letter in Disk Management.
Operation Steps:
1. Use the shortcut key win + x to open the System Tools shortcut menu from which to select Disk Management.
2. Open the Disk Management window.
3. From the disk list, locate the drive without the assignment letter, right-click on the partition, and select Change Drive letter and path.
4. Eject drive Path Change window, click Add.
5. In the Add Drive letter and Path window, select the letter you want to assign to the partition or drive, and click OK.
Note: You can only assign an unoccupied letter at this time, and if the letter is occupied by another partition, you must delete the letter before you can reassign it.
6. After the Add letter click OK, in the upper right side of the screen will pop up the following prompts:
7. When you click the prompt, you are prompted to use Windows Explorer to open the drive.
8. Open the computer, you can find the missing partition or drive, the problem can be resolved.
Note:
If you add a letter immediately after the letter is lost or deleted, the prompt in operation 6 may not appear.
