Recently, intend to install the Windows 8 desktop on the use of Bluetooth mouse, so the company sent a mini Bluetooth receiver plug into the USB interface, this thought directly can be used, but half a day without any reaction, only to hear the equipment plug the buzz.
Tips: The following pictures, such as not clear, you can click the picture to enlarge!
Open Device Manager and find that the Bluetooth receiver driver is not hit at all and is displayed as an unknown device:
This receiver was used on this computer a few months ago, and there should be no problem, and Windows 8 support for Bluetooth is certainly good, even without a built-in driver, and you can get additional drivers through the Windows Update Web site after connecting to the Internet. Why is there a problem that cannot be installed automatically?
Double-click the device, and a strange hint--"access Denied"--is displayed in the Open Properties window:
Click "Update Driver ..." to try to find and install the driver through Windows update with the same hint:
Here's a new feature of Windows 8 Device Manager, which is that you can view the system events associated with the device directly in the device properties:
Most of the time, this list of event logs can help us pinpoint the details of the time, driver files, and installation results of the device installation. But after analyzing it, there are very valuable clues to find.
Similar "Access denied" issues have actually been encountered before, typically because the registry location that needs to be written during driver installation cannot be written. Of course, there are other possibilities that are not ruled out.
First of all, from the most likely place, that is, the registration form to start the investigation. How do you determine where the registry keys cannot be written?
At this point, remember that in addition to the event log, many features in Windows log files, which may help you find more useful information.
In Windows, the log files that install device drivers are primarily setupapi.dev.log files in the Windowsinf folder. So, I found this file in the system, from the back of the slow view, and finally saw some valuable content:
This section shows many records of Access is denied, and records show that when you write Hkrparametersrestrictionscod Major Minor 10DontAddIncomingSPPInWizard This registry key , driver installation failed due to denial of access.
At this point, the main reason for the problem should be found. The next step is to solve the problem and verify the conjecture.
Open Registry Editor, ready to start looking for the above registry key. But which one is HKR? It doesn't matter, we can search for the "restrictions" or "COD Major Minor 10" and so on to find the exact location.
Sure enough, we found the corresponding key value in the registry. Because, from the name of the Superior registry key "Bthport" (Bluetooth port), this one is really Bluetooth-related:
The point to note here is that my registry editing software is not built into the system regedit, but more powerful Registry Workshop. Its strength is not listed here, just notice the red font in the image above, such a mark in Registry Workshop means that the current user of these registry entries is not authorized to access.
