Word Formula Editor

★ The origin of the formula editor

You must know that there is a "formula editor" application in Word, but you may not know it is not actually developed by Microsoft, it is a special edition of the MathType "formula editor" of Design Science company, which is customized for Microsoft applications.

★ Installation of Equation Editor

The Equation Editor is not a component of Office default installation. If you want to use it, reinstall Office to the steps shown in Figure 1, select Formula Editor in the Office Tools, select Run from My Computer from the options, and continue with the installation to successfully install Equation Editor.

★ Start Formula Editor

When you need to edit the formula, click the Insert → Object command. Opens the Object dialog box (shown in Figure 2), finds Microsoft Formula 3.0 in object type, clicks the OK button, inserts the Formula editing window in the document, and the text is in a mixed state with the formula. If you checked the checkbox before "Show as icon," Insert the "Microsoft Formula 3.0" icon in the document.

Double-click the icon to open a separate Formula Editor program window, this program window and the Word program window are independent of each other, in the editing formula, if you want to edit text, directly switch to the Word program window to edit it, do not need to close the Formula Editor program window, to edit the document to bring a lot of convenience.

When you finish editing a formula in the Equation Editor program window, click the file → update command, or press F3 to update the formula in the document, or you can complete the update if you close the Equation Editor program window directly.

Tip: Every time you insert a formula, restart the Equation Editor (is it a bit of a hassle?), do you want to give the formula editor an "Equation Editor" button on the toolbar?

Create a formula with the Equation Editor

There are about 120 templates on the dashboard (grouped display), we can create complex multilevel formulas by nesting templates (inserting templates into slots in another template), but nested templates cannot exceed level 10.

To insert a symbol or template in a formula, click the appropriate button on the toolbar, and then click a specific symbol template in the displayed dashboard.

★ The creation of the formula

In the Equation Editor, you can create the formula you want, such as the formula shown in Figure 4:
