Cloud computing: A new twist in IT technology

The "cloud" era was shaped by the evolution of human power consumption 100 years ago, when farms and companies gradually shut down their generators and buy electricity from efficient power plants. Wen Gulieming (Jiangsu) 2006, 27-year-old Google senior engineer Kristov Bisilia to Google (Google) Chairman and CEO Schmidt proposed "cloud computing" idea, certainly did not expect that his research may affect an era of economic development and business model changes. With the support of Schmidt, Google launched the "Google 101 Plan", and formally proposed the "cloud" concept. Cloud computing is a new business computing model that leverages the transmission capabilities of high-speed Internet to move data processing from personal computers or servers to computer clusters on the Internet----computers in a cluster are common industrial standard servers, Managed by a large data processing center----data Centers Allocate computing resources to the needs of customers to achieve the same results as supercomputers. "Cloud" is not only a metaphor for those networked computers, but also a computational process of data that is hidden from the server as you need it, carving out the one you need from the big cloud. This is the most romantic metaphor. New solutions with the development of the Internet, many enterprises around the world have new requirements for internet-based computing methods, and cloud computing is a new solution. "Cloud computing is a way to share IT infrastructure, and it can connect huge system pools to provide IT services." Cloud computing enables enterprise data centers to operate more like the Internet, allowing computing resources to be accessed and shared as virtual resources, in a secure and scalable manner. Take your computer as an access port and give it to the Internet. Imagine, when the computer's computing power is not limited by local hardware, smaller size, more weight, but can be more robust processing of mobile terminals within reach. We can still run the most demanding online games on a thin, lightweight notebook, and can also edit and process just the photos on the phone by visiting Photoshop online. More tempting is that companies can be very low cost input to obtain very high computing power, no longer invest in expensive hardware equipment, the burden of frequent maintenance and upgrades. For example, the US real estate web site, goosipy.com, wants to create a database that calculates the number of 670,000 households who buy their own selling property in 12 years to provide better advice to consumers. If they do it themselves, initial estimates will take 6 months and millions of dollars. In the end, they rented the "Resilient Computing cloud" service provided by Amazon.com, using Amazon's powerful analytics capabilities, which took only 3 weeks to complete, costing less than $50,000 trillion--one of the beauty of cloud computing, which is that computing on demand is able to give full playThe performance of large computer groups. If you only need to use 5% of the resources, you only have to pay 5% of the price, instead of the same as before, for 100% of the equipment to pay. Imagine such a scenario: as long as your PC or mobile phones and other terminals installed a simple operating system and the full functionality of the browser, the boot into their own username and password, you have "cloud" application software and data will be synchronized to the terminal. The "cloud" era was shaped by the evolution of human power consumption 100 years ago, when farms and companies gradually shut down their generators and buy electricity from efficient power plants. More importantly, "cloud computing" is not a distant thing: at Huawei Shanghai, where thousands of engineers had no bulky mainframe computers, the company "merged" a mainframe computer into a large server, using a hundreds of-dollar device through a monitor to make a row on the intranet, Use the same functionality exactly. The Giants have intervened. In a sense, "cloud" is not a new thing. Since the age of humans into the Internet, the PC era of the software industry began to internet, the "cloud" has always been around, like the Sun's NC (network computer), Microsoft's. NET strategy, SAAS (software as a service), YouTube, Gmail and Google's search engines can be seen as early products of cloud computing. Due to the development of bandwidth and the sharp reduction of the price of hardware equipment, Google realizes that the "cloud" era is really coming, starting its large-scale business promotion process. In Google's view, "The cloud must have the following: The data is on the Internet, not the terminal; The software will eventually disappear, as long as your" cloud "device has a browser that can run everything now; the" cloud "era of Internet terminals will be more than just PCs: mobile phones, cars, even watches, As long as there is a simple operating system and browser can be fully implemented, because the data are in the "cloud" side, the enterprise's IT management is more and more simple, enterprises and individual users do not have to worry about viruses, data loss and other issues. Cloud computing concept in the ascendant, the battlefield has been the smoke. Among them are Google, Amazon, IBM and Microsoft, sun companies such as information giants. The benefits of early entry into the market are obvious: winning a good PR image, attracting the attention of academics and the industry, and developing technology through the running-in process with academics and free think tanks. More crucially, cloud computing is seen as a key step in moving users from the desktop to the Internet, and whoever wins the battle at the turn of the old and new rules wins the rule. So it's not hard to understand why Amazon and Sun are so aggressive in joining the competition. In 2007, Amazon.com opened a service called "Resilient Computing Cloud" to developers, allowing small software companies to buy Amazon data center processing power on demand. Sun launches a "black box" program based on cloud computing theory that says the futureData center, will no longer be confined to the crowded and stuffy room, but a mobile container, the enterprise can move it to include the "outskirts" of various places, reduce the cost of the computer room. Microsoft and Google are the most important players in the race. As we all know, from Gmail, Google has been trying to challenge Microsoft's authority by offering computing power and services to users on the Internet, and subverting Microsoft's "desktop-king" era. Google is expanding its cloud computing platform with open source, meaning users can get the code for the platform and modify it. This is seen as a good way to promote cloud computing. Schmidt is optimistic that he believes that "90% computing tasks can be done through the cloud computing technology." Faced with Google's challenge, Microsoft is trying to connect hundreds of millions of Windows users on Windows Live, providing them with cloud computing, a key step for Microsoft, and Bill Gates said in the summer of 2007: "When you think of storage, you think of windows Live. "The blue giant IBM is also keen to participate: joint venture and Google Data Center, support to Carnegie-Mellon University, MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, Maryland University and Washington University, 6 University of Computer science researchers to provide funds and equipment to promote cloud computing research and launched a high-profile blue Cloud plan in August 2007. "Cloud computing will be the next key business for IBM," said Willy Chiu, vice president of IBM's High-performance solutions. More than 200 developers have been deployed to study the business. Why not? IBM has a unique advantage: Application server, storage, management software, everything. Dell also set up a new business unit in March 2007, the Data Center Solution Department, and its first service was the cloud computing solution. So many manufacturers to seize the cloud beach also marks the future it field into a lot of "cloud" weather, Google's dream is to "integrate global information", will be scattered around the world, all can be digitized, different languages, different formats, different types, different versions of the information, analysis and processing, through a simple "plug" Available to the user. The advent of a new data center model such as "cloud computing" has made Google infinitely close to the dream: All terminal devices are plugged into plugs, and data storage and computing power is given to Google. Multi-city start cloud computing February 1, 2008, IBM announced the first Cloud Computing Center (Cloud Computing Centre) in Wuxi Taihu New Town Science and Education Industrial park. The center will provide China's emerging software companies with the ability to access a virtual computing environment, thereby supporting their development activities. IBM and the Wuxi government have jointly declared that this will be the world's firstA cloud computing hub for business operations. Using IBM's "Blue Cloud" technology, the "Blue Cloud" is a series of cloud computing products based on open standards and Open-source software that connect computers to provide such Web2.0 applications as Mashups, open collaboration, social networking and mobile commerce. August 2010, Shanghai launched the "Sea of clouds Plan" to build the cloud industry chain. The development of the cloud computing industry in Shanghai is focused on five aspects: first, break through the core technology of virtualization. Second, the development of cloud computing management platform. Shanghai strives to achieve the Shanghai cloud computing industry base value of 5 billion yuan in three years, five years to achieve 8 billion yuan, to cultivate 1-2 annual sales of more than 1 billion yuan cloud computing enterprises, the introduction of 2-3 sales of more than 500 million of the cloud computing enterprises, in the initial formation of an influential cloud computing industry chain embryonic, and built with international brand effect and radiation of the Shanghai cloud computing industry base. According to the Shanghai Economic Information Committee's official release of "Shanghai to promote the cloud computing Industry Development Action Plan (2010-2012)" disclosed that Shanghai to promote the cloud computing industry development focus on five major aspects: first, the breakthrough of virtualization core technology. Second, the development of cloud computing management platform. Third, build cloud computing infrastructure. Iv. encourage the application of cloud computing industry. V. Build a cloud computing security environment. Some provinces and cities and large enterprises have begun to pay attention to the development of cloud computing industry. At present, the domestic cloud computing industry is still in the initial stage, a variety of technical routes and standards coexist, has not formed a stable industrial chain division of labor, large-scale commercial application model has not yet formed. Shanghai at this time take the lead in cloud computing industry, occupy the cloud computing technology and service industry chain high-end, will have a positive and far-reaching impact on Shanghai's industrial development, and look forward to recreating a Chi of emerging industries. Oracle and Dell will use their world-class cloud computing technologies and solutions to jointly develop with the Shanghai data port, to build and promote cloud computing services and jointly build the Shanghai cloud computing industry base to provide world-class safe, reliable, cost-efficient and convenient cloud computing services for the majority of small and medium-sized enterprises, government, health and education users. The Shanghai cloud computing industry base not only gave birth to China's first real cloud computing data center, but also created many other "China first": China's first, and second customized Internet Data center, China's green energy-saving data center, the latest energy-saving index records, China's most high-density data centers. and located in Tianjin Binhai High-tech zone Yuanyun software company is a specialized in the "cloud computing" software services of High-tech enterprises. At present, the company for the Binhai High-tech zone SME free enterprise software services, through the "cloud computing" this powerful network technology service platform, to help the IT services industry to rapidly upgrade the world IT services to the pace of technology. However, a large number of servers gathered together, very power consumption, and generated a lot of heat, how to deal with these problems is a problem. Shanghai may draw on foreign large cloud computing companies such as GoogleExperience, in some places with "cold resources" to build data centers, are now looking for some with rich electricity resources, or low cooling cost of local construction data center---are considering the construction of a data center in Nantong, Jiangsu. Nantong has a large liquefied natural gas receiving station, which is transported by overseas tankers and converted into gases in Nantong. In this conversion process, there will be a large number of discarded cold energy, which is the data center cooling server is very much needed. At the same time, power resources rich in Inner Mongolia is also Shanghai fancy. Some parts of Inner Mongolia will produce coal after the output, the middle loss is very large, but if the data center built in the local, direct use of the rich local electricity, and the fiber signal output, then the loss of fiber is very small. The ultimate goal of cloud computing is to reduce the cost of computing, which will largely reduce the operating costs of the cloud computing center.
