Beijing Time October 3 News, according to Reuters, Oracle CEO Ellison (Larry http://www.aliyun.com/zixun/aggregation/16528.html ">ellison), said in Tuesday, He intends to promote the company's growth, rather than acquisitions, by promoting the existing cloud computing portfolio.

Oracle, the world's third-largest software developer, is the head of the company, and Ellison has dramatically increased the company's revenues over the past 10 years through a series of acquisitions, but he has ruled out a major deal in the future.

"We're not focused on any big acquisitions, and we think organic growth opportunities lie in the clouds," he said. "Mr. Ellison said in an interview before the company's San Francisco annual user meeting.

Oracle has moved into the cloud computing market late, and cloud computing means accessing remote data centers via the Internet for computer services. Corporate technology buyers favor cloud computing, as the service can be implemented more quickly than traditional software upfront costs. Traditional software requires companies to install them on their own computer systems.

Ellison has derided cloud computing as "meaningless", and the allusion has been widely circulated in the industry. When a Wall Street analyst asked Mr. Ellison to comment on current trends in 2008, he described cloud computing as "a fad" and likened the computer industry to the fashion industry.

But Oracle then launched its own services in the fast-growing cloud-computing market and acquired several companies selling Internet software as its clients began to switch to younger cloud-computing rivals Salesforce.com, Amazon and Google. Oracle unveiled new cloud computing products at this week's user assembly, including an upgraded version, the best-selling corporate database, and high-end computers for cloud computing. Oracle expects 50,000 executives and technical staff to attend the conference.

"You're not going to get anything," Ellison said in Sunday, when the General Assembly first previewed the company's Exadata X3 hardware system and presented the cloud Computing database, which was used by almost all the world's largest companies.

Oracle currently employs nearly 120,000 people to sell its new cloud computing products to existing customers, with most of its customers using cloud services from rival Salesforce and Amazon.

"Oracle will need some time in the cloud market," said Daniel Ives, an analyst at the US investment bank FBR Capital CMC, "that this phase is really going down the cloud path and trying to be successful." ”

Rebecca Wettemann, an analyst at research firm Nucleus, Wheatman, says Oracle's goal is to become a one-stop cloud computing shopping store offering operating systems, databases, computer projects and computing infrastructure across the network. "Amazon says it will provide a part of the product for users, Salesforce says, but Oracle says it will provide all the products." "Wheatman said.

Mr. Ellison has been leading Oracle for more than 30 years, but he declined to disclose whether the board had chosen a successor. It is widely believed that the 68-year-old will hand over the company to one of the current two presidents: former investment banker/current CFO Savera Katz (Safra Catz), former Hewlett-Packard CEO Mark Hurd.

At Oracle, there are "many people" who can take his place, Ellison said. (Compiling/Xiao Yu)
