Integrated equipment (appliance) and large data analysis features have been the focus of attention in the latest 2012-year Data Warehouse Magic Quadrant report of Gartner, where major data warehouse vendors have increased their input in their offerings. This article will be the current industry's major manufacturers and products to make a comparison, end users can also be based on their own needs to evaluate the data Warehouse products.

After acquiring Aster data Bae at a price of 263 million dollars last year, Teradata's product line was greatly reinforced, including mapreduce support, unstructured data, and the ability to analyze graphical data.

In traditional DBMS, Teradata also extends its feature set, such as support for two-temporal column storage and advanced data compression options. But Gartner's latest data Warehouse Magic Quadrant report says customers ' complaints about the Teradata platform are focused on their more expensive prices.

Oracle has a relatively large selection of data warehouses that can provide customers with several different combinations, such as building a custom data warehouse using validated configurations, or buying a configured Oracle Exadata directly. At present, Oracle can provide three kinds of exadata products, including Exadata X2-2, to deal with Data warehouse and mixed workload; Exadata X2-8, Enterprise private cloud solution; Exadata Storage expansion Rack x2-2, storage expansion rack.

Like Oracle, IBM is also able to provide separate DBMS solutions as well as data warehousing integration devices IBM Smart Analytics System Intelligent Analysis systems and Netezza. Data Warehousing Products Infosphere warehouse can run on platforms such as UNIX, Linux, Windows, and z/OS.

According to Gartner's latest report, IBM customers reflect problems with their products in terms of performance and deployment experience. These problems are likely to be related to the deployment process, not the product itself. However, customers also said that IBM is very good at technical support services to solve these problems efficiently.

EMC's acquisition of Greenplum products includes a large scale parallel data warehouse DBMS that can run on Linux and UNIX. It can be sold as a separate DBMS, or it can be integrated into a data warehouse device product. Emc-greenplum says there are more than 400 clients worldwide.

Gartner reports that with the further integration of Greenplum and EMC, they will be able to compete with more mature vendors. Some mainstream data warehouse vendors, such as IBM, Teradata, Oracle and SAP, all have a stronger user base, which will be the direction greenplum need to work.

After the SAP acquisition of Sybase, their database and data warehouse product lines have been further expanded. Gartner is more concerned with its column analysis database Sybase IQ, which is also the Sap-sybase company's main data Warehouse DBMS product.

As you can see in previous reports on the TechTarget database site, Sybase added a series of new features to its latest version of Sybase IQ, including support for large data analysis, fast data loading, and parallel query mechanisms across multiple processors. In addition, Sybase has added features such as integrated text search and analysis, and data mining within the database.

Gartner reports that the limitations of Sybase's IQ are manifested in the lack of integrated device solutions. While Sybase has already signed an integrated device agreement with Third-party ISVs, this form of collaboration is less effective from market feedback.

In addition, it is necessary to mention the latest SAP HANA Data Warehouse device, which is a collection of advanced technologies such as memory analysis and column storage databases that can be used to create analytical data marts. But the current Hana market share is still very limited, so Gartner's report does not take it into account.

Microsoft's Data warehouse is relatively simple, including SQL Server 2008 DBMS Business data Warehouse and fast Track. In 2010, they also released their own data warehousing integration devices--sql Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse PDW.

Gartner says some customer feedback Microsoft's Data Warehouse has problems, such as poor scalability of servers across the grid, poor performance in complex queries, manual rebuilding of database indexes, and the need for a multiple-server environment. But the cost-performance is still Microsoft's killer.
