Zhang Yizhen, deputy director of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, said that the development of artificial intelligence has spawned a number of new industries, created a large number of new employment opportunities, improved employment conditions, and expanded employment space. Lu Hao, former deputy minister of the Ministry of Education, said that the development of artificial intelligence and the increase of social employment are not public opinion. The development of artificial intelligence technology has replaced human repetitive labor. At the same time, it has also refined the division of labor in production and created a large number of new jobs. Education should actively embrace labor. Emerging technologies such as intelligence will adapt to the future and cultivate multi-level digital technical talents to supplement the shortcomings of digital talents.

As a partner of the China Development Research Foundation, Ali Research Institute has undertaken the "Application of Artificial Intelligence in the E-Commerce Industry and Research Report on Employment Impact" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"). The "Report" study found that the application of artificial intelligence technology significantly increased the income of e-commerce practitioners. The positive promotion of artificial intelligence technology to employment has surpassed the negative impact. In the few enterprises that replace artificial labor, most of the substitutes have got the opportunity to transfer or adjust their posts.

Nearly 95% of jobs benefit from intelligent tools

First, in the case of growing business volume, the use of intelligent tools affects about 1.8 million jobs (including customer service positions, store design, and data analysis positions), of which 1.7 million are from smart tools. With the use of work to improve efficiency, there are 96,000 jobs available for replacement.

“Improving productivity” is the main reason for using intelligent tools

Second, over 80% of merchants have adopted artificial intelligence tools provided by the platform. The top three smart tools are smart customer service, intelligent store design and business staff. The popularity of other intelligent tools is relatively low and there is still potential for development. More than 80% of respondents believe that “improving productivity” is the main reason for adopting intelligent tools, while only half of them believe that “reducing labor costs” is the reason for using intelligent technology.

Smart tool usage significantly increases merchant sales

Third, e-commerce, which uses smart tools, has a significantly larger total sales, year-on-year growth in sales, and per-capita sales than e-commerce without smart tools. Businesses using smart data analytics tools increased annual sales by 75.8%; merchants using smart store design tools increased annual sales by 31.4%; merchants using smart customer service tools increased annual sales by 10.8%. The use of intelligent data analysis tools and intelligent store design tools also increased the per-capita sales of the respective departments by 51.3% and 11.2%, respectively.

Artificial intelligence technology employment is promoting more than negative negative impact

Fourth, the positive promotion of artificial intelligence technology to employment has exceeded the negative impact. At present, no significant replacement effect of the three smart tools on employment has been found. Among the few companies that replace artificial labor, most of the substitutes have the opportunity to transfer or adjust their posts. The use of smart tools directly leads to the reduction of personnel.

Fifth, the application of artificial intelligence technology has significantly increased the income of e-commerce practitioners. Among them, the monthly income of data analysts increased by 9.7%, the monthly income of designers increased by 7.7%, and the monthly income of customer service staff increased by 5.6%. The income of posts with higher technical level increased even more.

In recent years, the rapid growth of business volume has objectively required businesses to make dividends for technological advancement (artificial intelligence, etc.). The use of smart tools may replace a small number of employed people, but it has created more new jobs by increasing the performance of e-commerce, while increasing the income of the staff. In general, the use of artificial intelligence technology in the e-commerce industry is positive and positive for the performance of merchants and individuals.
